Best deal at the moment. Still waiting for Adorama to bring back Yamaha receiver deals (they had A4A at $800 and A6A at a good price too). Thank you.

I demoed this and the previous model and ended up staying with my older Yamaha, buying a harmony hub, running hdmi directly to my tv for my 4k inputs and just using earc. My take on modern receivers is that the only need for one is if you are running atmos. There were no selling points for me… the streaming music integration is easier from my phone and the sound quality was lower than my existing unit. Heck, I'd even recommend going with an older Yamaha or HK to anyone thats looking to upgrade and won't be doing atmos.

Any idea when this will happen? Seen a lot of Denon deals from them lately.

Can you run the Harmony hub entirely off the phone app?

I've never really tried. You can certainly execute tasks like "watch tv" or "listen to music" but I'm not sure how easy individual things like changing channels would be to do all the time

It's worth noting that harmony hub is EOL. Harmony itself is done. I was surprised by it, but I think Logitech saw the writing on the wall. TVs are providing just about all the remaining benefits that AVRs. An AVR will certainly save you from running a lot of HDMI to your TV, and if you own a number of 4k @120 sources, a TV to support everything may be $$$$ BUT, if you can direct your AVR $ into your TV, that seems like a better solution to me?? Time will tell and I imagine there are people here and esp on AV forums that would call me dumb for some (probably valid) reason, but it certainly works for me and I dont have any quality compromises in my setup and it works very smoothly.

I use Yamaha MusicCast and it works very well to control everything through the mobile app. I used to have harmony before but I sold that along with my old theater setup. I was researching on the options for a replacement as Logitech stopped making that. MusicCast is a good alternative to use over phone.

All I need the Harmony to do is to be able to turn on a 20 year old A/V receiver located in the basement while I'm on the first floor. I moving into a house with built-in wired speakers in four rooms and wanted to be able to drive and control the system spending as little money as possible while using gear I already have.
