Really good table. Note that about 1-2 years ago they were ~$70
Rigidity. Those folding tables are not flat and they don't need to be for what theyre meant for. If you just wanted an extra work area to lay out tools etc but imagine trying to do a glue up and you cant lay your workpiece flat to clamp it down while the glue dries. Also the Dewalt has holes you can slot clamps through to secure down something if you needed to. That being said, I've had this before and I would rather get something like the worx pegasus where the clamps are more integrated. This workbench feels really solid though compared to the few I've tried.
$59 in 2020 I have one it's ok. Wouldn't buy it again as it's not really that handy. The folding mechanism is nice though I could see it being useful for a contractor.

Have had a miter on top of this for the past 6 months. Barely fits, but it's working in a "pinch." Very stable.

A plastic work bench? Nah. Worst case I'd grt a couple folding saw horses and make a playwood sheet top. The last thing I want is some plastic breaking while I have a circular saw running. And my setup would be less than this.
This isn't some thin cheep plastic. these are very strong and stable. got mine a few years ago and it is WAY more coinvent for quick small work and/or and extra portable work table. Saw horses and plyboard is really for a different set off u-cases.

Well you're in luck, because not only is plastic breaking the last thing you'd want to happen, it's also the last thing that would happen. Sounds like you're a perfect match. How many trips up and down the stairs do you need to take to get your sawhorse table set up?

Plastic fatigues and then breaks.

There are other similar products made with metal and wood. I forget the brand(s) but I know they exist. I have one. And I've seen them on S.D.

A plastic workbench? That can only end badly.

The last thing I want when I have a circular saw running is a piece of plywood sliding around on sawhorses.

Really nice table, very sturdy and simple to open and close. This has been a Black Friday deal in the past so if your not in a hurry you may want to roll the dice and wait a month but even at $89 it's worth it.

Alright total noob here - why would I want one of these foldable "workbenches" compared to say, a folding Lifetime table? Assuming I'm not going to put anything over 100lbs on top of it.

Depends on what you need it for. A space to store tools, e.g. if you're finishing a basement or something? plastic table will probably be OK unless you put a lot of weight on it. This type of item is designed to be worked ON, meaning cutting, sawing, hammering, clamping, etc.

I wouldn't use workbenches even like this for large format cutting. As you said, regardless of what you do the workpiece is apt to move around.

For plywood what I've found that works VERY well, especially for large rip cuts, is a 2" piece of EPS on the floor (preferably flat, e.g. poured concrete works very well), plywood on top, and you cut it allowing the saw to penetrate the plywood and cut the EPS. The EPS will be just fine, won't hurt the saw blade nor the workpiece. Plus this allows you to get a better angle at long cuts, especially if you choose to use an assist device like a Kreg/etc track saw.

I started using this technique when had to make several finish cabinets for my last home (as I couldn't find what I needed commercially), and in cabinets cuts need to be very accurate and very straight/square.

The EPS is a bit of an investment (e.g. it's not cheap, a 2"x4x8' sheet is like $50) but it will last many many cuts.

I'm a noob also but recently invested heavily. Table saws/ saws cause the most amount of accidents. Talking about losing fingers. You need to watch some safety videos.

You want to do as much as possible to try to mitigate risk to prevent loss of fingers.

Wood pieces can get caught and fling back so hard to cause holes in the dry wall.

you always want a good foundation.
Look into saw stop. If you are really concerned about it and have the budget worth a look. As long as you don't cut a lot of wet lumber (fresh PT or outdoor job site stuff) should work well and give peace of mind.

Fyi, for those in Alaska/Hawaii, the price is $139 (from $169).
Here's hoping for a better deal, come Black Friday.
