Humidifier aficionado here: this is my current favorite. Having had Vornado and Dyson units, this does a great job of humidifying our bedroom, very easy to clean and has a relatively big water reservoir. Also, for me at least, it's silent and doesn't make dripping noises which all of the aforementioned do. Great price!

Typically the target is 50% for the overall level of humidity in your house. This ensures things like furniture, wood flooring, etc. remain stable and do not warp or cup. Most importantly bad things like mold don't grow above about 60% humidity. As it relates to personal health, winter time is typically the driest time of the year in many parts of the country and humidity below 50% can start to cause some individuals to experience dry nasal passages, coughing or even nose bleeds. Additionally, if you have an onset of bronchitus the additional humidity above 50% can help alleviate symptoms and create a productive cough to get phlegm out of the lungs. This is where either a room or whole house humidifier such as posted can help. All of the is very YMMV and if you are healthy and not having any issues you may not even need humidity. Hope this helps...

I just contacted LEVOIT and they stated that this model is the same, or comparable, to these two models:

And

Does this have a filter? I had to switch from tap to distilled because it was clogging our home furnace filter and causing a high limit trip

After looking at the PDF of the manual, it does not look particularly easy to clean. Seems similar to a lot of other humidifiers: various channels and grooves that should be cleaned every few days, and the opening to the tank looks too small for most people to fit a hand through.
It's super easy to clean. Get as much of it as you can with a paper towel etc and hit the rest with a hair dryer.

for those still wondering, please get a Water Distiller to use for the source water. You want to filter out all minerals from your supply otherwise they will deposit in any humidifier unit.

Distilling is the best in class as input water.

I researched about this before so my 2cent:
Ultrasonic: need to use distilled water (like RO filter system) otherwise, have 2 main cons, white dust and over humidify. Pro is less noise, less electricity

Evaporative (the one with fan): Cons: noise, more electricity, filter change. Pro: less likely to over-humidify a room since they only release moisture as the air can hold it, The wick filter can help trap impurities and minerals from the water, reducing white dust.

I am concerned about what I breath in and I cannot get distilled water easily so I settle for evaporative humidifier.

Is this easy to clean? Most humidifiers are not.
Based on the pictures on Amazon, I would say no. Too many tight spots. Lots of ridges. This looks worse to clean than even Homedics ultrasonic humidifiers. If those pictures are right, it is a pass for me.

Ordered the Vornado to replace my old Vornado Evap3 that lasted 6 years before the motor died. I hope this one is just as reliable. I prefer evaporative because I don't want to deal with mineral dust or filtered water. I rotate two sets of wicks, swapping them out every week while the other set soaks in a bucket of water/vinegar mixture. I get at least a full year out of two sets of wicks (and have pushed it as long as two years).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the water distillers I'm seeing online looks like they just boil the water. Isn't that the same as what this humidifier does when you use the warm mist mode? It seems like a waste of energy to boil the water once to distill it, then boil it again to put that water into the air.

Just ordered one. I live in a hard water area and have both reverse osmosis and water softener installed. Do I need to use RO water to avoid white dust ? Or just soft water may work ? Thanks.

Wondering if this is online only deal or we can get this from local warehouse? I do not see the website saying online only.

Any input?

What's the benefit of having both warm and cool mist in one?

Can't find any reviews for this particular model LV6S. Guessing it is similar to LV600S? Also are the filters easy to obtain and are there cheap generic ones you can buy?
Yes it is the same as the LV600s. Costco typically has different models for the warehouse pricing so they can't be priced matched with other stores. The Costco model comes with more filters than the Amazon model as well. I returned my Amazon one and went with the Costco one since it was cheaper and better warranty. Haven't gone through all the filters but even the Levoilt filters are cheap normal price of $1 each.

I have determined the best thing is leaving the shower on full blast with hot water all night and day. Not only does the home stay humid but it is also convenient that you do not feel cold before jumping in each day.
