Not sure why the question was posed as this is right on the product page... SMART ILLUMINATION MADE SMARTER
Backlit keys light up when your hands approach the keyboard and automatically brighten or fade to suit your environment. Control on MX Keys S backlighting duration and brightness in Logi Options+14Requires Logi Options+ app, available for Windows and macOS.
It would be perfect if the keys were flat and not rounded, because you need to hit the center of the keys and if you type like I do, on the edged of the keys, this is not such a good keyboard.
Also, I could not connect it to a universal Logitech receiver, not sure if others were able to do it.

Keys/Keys S has 3 dedicated buttons for computers and can handle Bluetooth as well. I use 1 Unify receiver and 1 bluetooth device synced to this and an MX Ergo trackball mouse. ***See Edit above, this uses Bolt and not Unifying***
Making sure both are on the same number / device sounds simple enough, but I can't tell you how many times I forget to switch the keyboard to match the mouse lol. The keyboard itself is amazing, my wife has one as well and I'm going to order one to leave at my office desk.
I use this 8 hours a day, have had it for at least a year, and don't have any issues with color/paint/wear to the keys. The battery lasts long enough, and you can tell when it is going dead by the lack of a backlight (if you don't have the software installed to notify you).
Wish I could get a wireless version of it.
