The XPS 13+ is nice. I've got an older X1 Carbon (using it right now) and it is a totally different feel compared to the XPS. The XPS is dense and solid. The Carbon is much more hollow and the carbon fiber feels more like plastic.
That said, I like the Touchpoint and Thinkpads generally. But the XPS is really nice too. I don't love the function keys but I could live with them since I'm not on them all day long.
The difference is really in the port selection. The XPS has 2 Type C ports and that's all. The Carbon has the same 2 Type C and HDMI and an Type A.
The XPS is about being on the cutting edge of design. The Carbon is about excellence is execution. That's my take.
Wish it had touch, and at least 1tb of storage. 512gb is a bit meager in 2023.
Then again, Apple only tosses in 8gb of ram and a partial-speed 256gb SSD in their machines, but folks gobble them up as long as there's a fancy wallpaper, catch pop song, and single catchwords like COURAGEOUS or BRAVE.

Ah man, I wish I had seen this earlier. I needed a laptop less than 3 lbs and just bought a Dell XPS 13 Plus for $1120. It has the specs below, but I would have been happier with the Lenovo I think. Maybe I should cancel....
Processor 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1360P (18 MB cache, 12 cores, up to 5.00 GHz Turbo) Operating System Windows 11 Home Graphics Card: Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics Display 13.4", 3.5K 3456x2160, 60Hz, OLED, Touch, Anti-Reflect, 400 nit, InfinityEdgeMemory 16 GB: LPDDR5, 6000 MT/s (onboard), dual-channelStorage 512 GB, M.2, PCIe NVMe, SSD

I LOVE the x1 carbons, but I like your display way better.
I want a 13-14" max and high res touchscreen like the one you linked.
I'd jump on this deal if it had touch and better res. That's about the only thing I'm not fond of. I'd be willing to drop to an i5 with a better screen personally if I had to sacrifice something.
I too may just keep waiting for BF/cyber. My current laptop is a Surface and the battery is bulging like crazy. My prior laptop was an x1 I think gen2!!! That thing was my fav ever. My next should be X1 again, very soon!

What is the realistic battery life on these? Issue I'm having is that notebooks say 8-10 hours but then I login and it tells me 3-4 hours which isn't ideal away from a wall outlet.

The display kills the battery on the XPS 13. I wish Windows had a quick resolution switch to alternate back to 1080.

You can change resolution in less than 10-15 seconds (two key strokes, two mouse clicks in win 10 Pro, and should be the same in 11 but i'm too lazy to fire up 11 and check (I hate win 11 too ) ).
Certainly not the on/off switch you want, but not horrible considering the alternative.
My xps has a resolution of 3200x1800 and it looks strange when I revert to 1080p.

My experience with the Gen 10 carbons have been terrible I have had a ton of returns on business ones for the company I work for primary due to boot issues/posting problems

Well, do the heck uses local storage these days. It's the cloud storage life…
