Love the 8K unit I got Nov 2021 for $267. Mount/dismount is a little annoying but that's once a year and I wish it had a reversing valve for heat but no regrets. With work from home I keep just this part of the house cool in summer when nobody else is around and turn on the central air when necessary.
Like the others have said, crazy quiet AC. Closest thing you can get to central air from a window unit.
Only gripe is that there's a design defect. The ugly bottom bracket should align INSIDE of the window frame, but instead, it's misaligned, and has to go on outside of the frame, visible below the AC (hopefully that made sense).
If you go online and look at photos from reviews, you'll see below the AC, that everyone's got the bracket visible, so the install doesn't look as clean as this should be.
Still the best AC, but just a baffling design choice for something so sleek otherwise.
Also, the phone app works like 30% of the time. My other AC apps (Frigidaire and LG) work almost all the time.

I know what you mean. Hence there are also some gaps on the bottom from the bracket which you will need to apply extra foam insulation to fully cover it from outside elements.
I bought an 8k BTU new one for the same price but returned.
Mine had some weird noise[google.com] when AC mode. When I turned to Fan mode, the noise was gone.

I hate how insects (stink bugs namely) find a way inside through the unit no matter how much sealing I do. Ended up putting screen on the entire outer unit. PITA.
The app is buggy sometimes - the sleep curve function doesn't always work right. Otherwise a great unit.
This is a frustrating design with regards to mounting. Bought it for my rental house and after fight it for 2 hours, I returned it. Using a traditional design is so much better/easier. I use the thick pool noodles cut to size on each side to get a tight seal and setting the a/c unit of a small noodle that's been split in half. Push down the window so you get a snug seal and set the window stops to lock it in. This method assumes you are using vinyl frame windows for the set clamps. Easy.
Love the unit, only thing I hate is you can't turn the beeping sound off when you change the temp/speed/etc. Wakes my wife up when I change the temp in middle of the night

The reduction in noise is the best reason to learn how to do the install of the u-shaped unit. I suppose if it's a rental you might not notice the sound but much better for your renter and you in the long term.
Once you have an install system it is incredibly easy to take out and put in. Sure it's not as easy as your method listed above but you have your system worked out for that type.

You can turn off the beep sound and the lights through the app, but only through the app, which is weird but at least it can be done.

So you're saying both the app and the unit itself have bugs? (Sorry, I can't help myself)

I have to check on it every once in a while because it's so quiet, I think that it's not on 😂
With that said...these are the quietest and all around best AC units I've ever had.
