Pretty good deal if you don't need Dirac or >9 channels. I think previous $900 9.2 LX-305 deal is more tempting with Dirac included.

If you are after Dirac Live & 9.2, the Onkyo TX-NR7100 has been down to $649 FYI.

Better room correction than MCACC, YPAO, or Audyessy.

I prefer to do manual room correction based on what I hear. Would Dirac still help?

If you like doing things manually, probably not. That said, the snob in me says how do you know what your ears are hearing is accurate?

In general Dirac is presumed better.

Keep in mind that better comes in two parts.
Dirac Live for your loudspeakers & Dirac Live Bass Control(DLBC) for your subwoofer(s)/overall bass integration.

Currently DLBC is only a purchase option on the new $2800 Onkyo RZ70/$3k Pioneer 805.
Denon/Marantz will get it sometime next year.

IF it's better can vary widely, just in these threads people stated they weren't that impressed upon using it and some love it.

Most likely not much, if at all.
Especially since you don't get sub/bass integration with Dirac Live.

Your ears are the only thing you need to satisfy, there is no reading required! 👍🏻

An "Elite" model without preouts? Yeah right. They are ruining the Elite line by doing that... They've been doing that for a while now.

It doesn't correct for bass at all on the 7100. It doesn't have the DBLC software.

Well that's what I've noticed. There is a whole thread on it at avrforums

FYI if anyone is/was considering that deal on the 7100, it has not expired code still working.
