As anyone buying this is making a few sacrifices in specs to save some $ (a wise choice given the current state of tech), you should also consider the Samsung A54 5g which comes in at under $300. Again, some minor sacrifices between the two, but for many the cost savings are worth it.

The one difference I would note is the max nits (screen brightness). If you frequently use your phone outside when the sun is brightht, you may want to pass on the A54. I happened to note it just recently after using my phone (s21 ultra) and my wife's new A54 outside simultaneously. Nonetheless, not a deal breaker for most.

The A54 peaks at 1000 nits, while the S23 FE peaks at 1450 nits and the s21 Ultra peaks at 1500 nits (including since the s21 Ultra is my reference point for experience which coincidentally is quite close to the S23 FE).

One huge difference (for me) is that the S series has Dex and the A series does not. I connect my phone to my monitor and use that as a PC/streaming device and the A series would not be able to do that.

Loved my S20 FE after moving from a Note 8. Just traded in my 3 year old S20 FE for an iHype (iPhone) 15 Pro Max and…the experience is underwhelming. Feels like a lateral move for my Use Case. Think hard about your phone use habits and you might find be underwhelmed too.

Been using an S20 FE since last year and I was hyped to upgrade to this. Have to say I'm more than a little disappointed that it's literally just a chip-and-sensor spec bump. Not really worth the cost now, but I can see it being great value in a few months (plus you lose the SD card slot, which is SUPER SUPER handy if you actually use these phones for photography)

If the trade in value for my Pixel was higher, I would bite. I'll wait to see what Google offers me for Black Friday as they usually boost trade in values then.

Yup. And if I don't bite on Black Friday there's the S24 coming out in January where there's again a chance of boosted trade-in values.

I still miss MST while using Samsung pay. I moved to S22U from s20fe.

This deal is not good enough. If $$ is objective just go with Motorola or wait and see BF

I have been thinking about this S23 FE, but I still like the S20 FE 5G since it has the microSD card slot. So if I get the S23 FE, there is a high chance that I will get the 256GB model.

s20FE had SD slot. I don't think this one has it. 128gb samsung executives can stick up their arschenhole. Give me SD or death!

Edge+ 2023 is better...likely much longer battery too.

I guess it must be the age/timing: like many other commenters, the person for whom I was considering this upgrade path is on the S20 FE today. As such, the S23 FE is really a mild refresh or side-grade from the S20 FE. Obviously software support is a consideration (given that software support should be longer for the newer S23 FE).

Good luck!

was surprised to hear about a newer version of FE, then i learned that it's nothing special. Samsung, google keeps getting better at degrading their phones. I guess i will get a note 20 ultra. Hard to get useful phones other than the norm that is assumed everyone needs.

This has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 just like my S22 and I can tell you that the battery life is horrid.

No way..

Samsung software is far superior to Moto. I've learned long ago specs aren't everything.

The only acceptable phones to own are iPhone, Galaxy, and possibly a Pixel
