Picked up a 6ft and an 8 fiberglass. Really light but so cheaply made. Carried them up front, paid then tossed them in the truck. Realized as I was leaving the parking lot that my hands, wrists and forearms were itching all over. Yep,welts from every bit of skin that touched fiberglass. Have to wipe them off tomorrow and hopefully it's just loose glass fibers and not poor product.
Tell that to every electrician everywhere lol.
Think you got that backwards there.

DON'T TRUST HOME DEPOT'S SPECS!

According to the manufacturer's spec (PDF linked on HD page) the 6ft aluminum is 13.5LB "shipping weight" and the fiberglass is 18LB "shipping weight," a difference of 4.5lbs.

Not a huge difference compared to ladders of old, but there is a difference. Also, the aluminum comes with a pail shelf that I find very useful.

Aluminum is always better than fiberglass.

Fiberglass is significantly lighter weight than aluminum though. I prefer to carry a fiberglass ladder instead of my aluminum one for most common jobs around the house

I stand corrected. Lol, no need to keep quoting me and saying I was wrong. Not sure what material my smaller ladder is but obviously it's not aluminum because it is definitely heavier than my fiberglass one. I will check when I have a chance because now I'm curious.

On a side note, anyone reading the comments would've seen someone correct me right away and not made a separate post, or 6 of them at this point, to say I was wrong. So thank you to the original poster that corrected me.

I'm in for one of these. I have a 6ft fiberglass one and a "little giant" extension one (heavy). However picking up a nice 4ft ladder is better for those smaller projects and more portable around the house. Not a bad price point if ya need one from a quality brand.

I always thought aluminum was the lighter choice?
