IPS is okay, 400 nits is a plus, 16GB is good, soldered is okay, comes with 1TB SSD is a plus, Wifi and BT are good,
IR Cam is a nice feature to have if you're into that, nanoedge display is nice-to-have (92% screen-to-body ratio), 100% sRGB is nice-to-have, 2.16 lbs is ultrabook-level light, and honestly it's probably got a metal chassis which I like to have.
I think the biggest pluses are the 2x Thunderbolt 4 with Display and PD (charging in and charging out), and the HDMI 2.1.
I'm not sure if it's worth it for me at this price point, but it's seriously worth considering, and for the features it has, is better than a lot of other i5-1235u laptops.

The better build, along with the other improvements you mentioned, tip this towards a decent value.

Magnesium (alloy) usually means it will have a very plastic kinda cheap feel to it (like the LG Gram series). This may or may not matter to people. Is there any screen flex?
As for the i7 itself...meh. I run mine with the Turbo disabled because all it does is drain battery, generate heat, and eventually throttle itself after 30 seconds at full boost. So why bother? Especially for gaming (I know, I know...) I get better performance with the turbo turned off because it allows the MX250 to sustain its clocks.
Battery life is mediocre in all Asus laptops. My 10th gen was supposed to last up to 10hrs per charge, but I've never seen it do more than 6 hours. My wife's 12th gen is worse. They advertise 13-14hrs, but she can't get more than 5 hrs.
At $500, this will be better than a lot of $700-800 newer laptops.

It's about equivalent, cpu-wise, but the i3 is more efficient but also has a much weaker iGPU
