you can make a bypass button; use as bookmark on phone and computer.
Mine is like this:
http://pi.hole/admin/api.php?disable=60&auth=

Disables pihole for 60 secs.
Your auth would need to be generated.

If you are buying this to run services or desktop replacement, just go with an Intel n95 or n100 mini pc. They are still 2x faster than the pi 5 and 4-5x faster than pi 4. By the time you buy a case and storage and power supply for the pi 5, you could just have a better mini pc that runs windows or any Linux version and you don't have to buy more for it.

In my opinion, there's no point in buying a rasberry pi if it's gonna be at this price point. You might as well get a dedicated tiny pc or chromebool. To each one their own, though.

There's still a few other disadvantages of getting an RPI 5 that people haven't pointed out:

You will probably need micro-HDMI adapters. 2 will run you $10 - $15.

If you want to use a device with a 3.5mm jack, you will need to use a USB DAC. The cheapest ones are $5 and they sound like trash. You'll probably have to go up to $15 for something acceptable.

Micro SD card storage is SLOW. You can buy a USB to SATA adapter for an SATA SSD, but that'll run you $10.

So that means you're spending about $35-40 in peripherals to make it somewhat usable and it'll look like a Frankenstein monster.

There's also the fact that it uses an ARM processor and that limits your software selection compared to x86. You'll also have to wait a year or two for them to iron out the bugs and fully optimize the hardware.

I use a RPi 3 to run PiHole so that links from Slickdeals won't work. ;-)

(PiHole gets rid of a ton of ads and tracking links. When I'm on a network without it, whoo...painful.)

3D Printers....
Every high end fast custom build printer uses one of these type boards to control it.
Most older printers or ones that did not use a Raspberry pi can be retrofit to use one and run klipper on it to allow you better control and faster printing while also allowing things like remote access via a web GUI.

There is also a chrome plugin that makes this easy from a chromium browser.

What a lively discussion!
Yes, this was more of an 'in-stock" post than "deal". I came across it and figured I would share.

I find arguments over competing use cases rather boring.
Professionally, I some times use SBC's which may cost upwards of $15k.

As a hobby, I make custom wireless interfaces for home automation, all based using home-assist and/or home-bridge on the Pi architecture. Could I switch over to Orange Pi or something else? Sure.
But for me, the fun is in the interfacing to various 'non-wireless' electronic devices around the home.

There are many other similar ones too. It is cheaper than this. I don't think it is a good idea to try to replace a PC

Agree on the use, but is it expensive to spend this much for that purpose ? How about pico w or zero?

There ARE lots of applications, but new developments have certainly reduced over the years due to the shortages and limited availability. That motivated most to find other solutions. I personally moved pretty much everything I was running on a Pi over to Docker containers on my Synology NAS and that has made life WAY better/easier. But some projects require the hardware interface that the Pi offers and for those it's trickier to find a replacement.
I'm dumb. What do you do with the Docker containers on your NAS? I understand what Docker containers are for, but what's the use case here? Thanks.

Absolutely abysmal. It's really not what it's for.

But now, the pi 5 is now entering the price range where if you don't need the GPIO then an SBC would be a better option. And the added cost makes it harder to justify purchasing unless I have a planned project.
You are making no sense at all. The pi IS an SBC.
