I think this is even less than I paid for mine on sale a couple years ago. I absolutely love this thing. Jam it in, set the target temp, and just wait for the beep. No more having to constantly guess at timing or checking multiple times throughout the cook. No need to spend more on some overly complicated wireless version either. This is as simple as it gets (beyond a leave-in analog thermometer I suppose).

Agreed. It would be interesting to compare it to a Meater wireless system at the same time.

If you want to check the air/cooking temp you will need to purchase an ambient temp probe separately. While you can use the meat probe to measure the air temp, it's not the most accurate way to do it.
The gator clip holds the ambient probe in the oven, typically between the grates, so it's not touching any metal.

Agree with above. I got this a few years ago as well as a thermapen. They are great and serve their own purposes. I use this when I heat up oil so it just alerts me when at temp

This is one of the simplest and best probe thermometers available. This is less than I paid for mine and I've never regretted my purchase. To put it simply: if you ever put food in the oven or put anything on the grill beyond burgers and dogs, do yourself a favor and get one of these. ThermoWorks makes top-notch stuff.

I own a ton of Thermoworks stuff (Smoke, Signals, etc) but the Dot has quickly become my favorite because of its simplicity.

Super simple to use and works great. Just bought 2 more.
