I've been a professional chef for more than 22 years and I love this knives since I discovered them 20 years ago, I recommend them to everyone I know, excellent knives and excellent value and this offer is as good as it gets on this ones, I purchased them more times that I can count.

I got mine and the end is so sharp... not used to that. Pretty nice once you get used to it. I got the 4". It's lighter than the knives I have. Much sharper. Should be fun to use. Thanks for all the info, everyone.
i've had a full set of these knives for years, and they constantly dull on me. i've had them professionally sharpened several times but they always seem to cut poorly to me. i'm assuming i'm assuming I am the problem here - as a professional, any advice on how often they should be sharpened, how they should be sharpened, and what I should be doing to take proper care of them? They are only ever hand washed, they are always kept in their block, yet within a week of getting them sharpened I can't even properly cut through raw chicken breast…
You can also try a japanese knife. They usually use harder steels with thinner blades and have better edge retention. The downside is that they are pricey and are less durable ie can chip more easily .
Butchers/BBQ masters/Chefs across the world disagree with you.
Keep chasing the amateur neighbor brands that used to be a thing.
Wow. Show me on the doll where zwilling touched you? I have Victornox, I think they are great knives for under $50 and I keep them at my cabin. I have 14" victorinox slicing knife for BBQ too. Works great. That said, you simply can't compare a Henkle or Zwilling chef knife to a Victorinox. They feel much better in the hand, they don't flex (don't tell me that isn't an issue, it is), and they hold their edge longer. Also I don't know what you meant by "used to be a thing" because they haven't dropped in quality.
I bought the 8'' knife in zwilling store y'day and the guy gave me the 4'' paring knife for 50% off. In effect, I got both of them for $70 including tax. Dont know if it makes a difference, but both of them are made in Germany. I havent used their knives earlier but have extensively used/abused their granitium pans from Costco and the pans still work great. so am trusting the brand to deliver quality with the knives as well
Have seen similar pricing on these knives in other retailers like Macy's
Bloomingdales also has 4-stars Chef's Knife for $49.99 with free shipping and free return. It is better for people who have offer of 15-20% Bloomingdales cashback from Chase credit cards. Bloomingdales also has better cashback from shopping portal.
Just a bit of advice for anyone starting in the kitchen: Buy one really good knife to start, the best you want to afford. A chef's knife (called that for a reason). I started with a decent Henckles that I still have after close to 30 years. A good, sharp knife makes a tremendous difference, and the really good ones just handle better and are easier to use. Eventually, if you start cooking a lot, you'll probably want a slicer, a paring knife, a bread knife, and others, but the chef's knife is key and worth spending on.
I spent $140 on a handcrafted bread knife in Germany, which is overkill but an absolute beauty (bought it from the knife maker at a Christmas market).
Anyone have any good recommendations for knife blocks? I need a new one.
These are the best quality knives I own. Totally different league from Victorinox. Some of my knives are from the 1990's and still look and perform like new after regularly washing in the dishwasher. I keep them razor sharp with my Ken Onion sharpener. Take care of them and they will last a couple of lifetimes.
Great deal but I'd spend way too much time finding a Slickdeal over many years for those empty steak knife slots....
Should I buy Self-Sharpening set instead of 8-Piece Zwilling Four Star Knife Block Set? Why don't people buy the Self-Sharpening when the price is not really different?

Most people say that self sharpening knife blocks don't really do anything and you need a good sharpening stone anyway, but with that said, I think what you linked is a great deal. I like the block better and it's cheaper!
