Yep. Bought this because I got tired of dealing with gas, transferring clothes, etc.

I was very surprised at how well it worked. But of course, temper your expectations.

You can't FULLY load it. And expect things to dry completely.

I do smaller loads, which is still quite a lot compared to my old GIANT Maytag top loading.

It's quiet, efficient and it's dry when it's all done. The app notifies when it's 5 minutes away from being done. And when it's actually done.

The clothes come out damp feeling but when you expose it to air, it just dries up completely. Weird. But true.

And the clothes are nice and soft. I think the best part is the 32oz of liquid detergent. I set it to auto. And I can do a decent amount of loads.

12-15. Depending on the clothes.

One thing…I did buy a dedicated small battery Ryobi vacuum It makes it easier to vacuum the lint after 1-2 laundry.

Remember. The cleaner the lint basket is. The dryer the clothes come out. So I've made it a habit to just do it every 1-2 loads.

Regular clothes don't produce much lint. It's the blankets, towels and bathroom floor rugs that do.

Just things to consider and think about. I've had it for about 6 months. I'm happy.

I considered putting a second one side by side to do more laundry. Since they do sell a Y site connector for the water intake. But…I'm happy with the one.

I ended up just putting full wall cabinets where the old dry er used to be.
This uses a heat pump to generate heat and remove moisture. So the drying effect is similar to the evaporator in your home AC system, in that it pulls moisture from the air and just sends it to the drain without needing to vent externally. Pretty neat setup, and the reviews I've seen online seem positive about the tech. It also uses MUCH less electricity than a standard dryer. Like 1/4 per load vs. traditional dryer with heating element.
If you are a first responder or government employee, GE offers a 20% discount through their website using ID.me. Their listed price is $2,199, but after the discount shows as $1,759.20 with free shipping (not including your local tax).

It is classy for me to warn you of the dangers of not hiring a professional to clean the dryer vent which you claim you haven't done in 23 years. It is up to you to act or not act. Google dryer vent fires and you will see why I put that as another example of saving money not having to do it as it's not needed for this GE profile combo unit. I bought my unit for $1,600 and with energy rebates it came down to $1450 plus tax on $1,600. I installed it myself and I am not a DIYer normally. Last but not least, I am not praying for you as you deserve everything coming for neglecting maintenance of the dryer vent. Good luck you will need it.
I think, or hope, he was implying that he hadn't had to pay anyone else to do the job in 23 years; not that he had been lazily clumping up lint in the chute for all those years.

The cheapest conventional set with auto dispense on Costco right now are the LG6700 set for $1700 (always sold out) and the better LG washtower the 300 model for $1750 and that's been sold out for a few days here since this $300 bonus offer and $1150 off collided.
And I don't see much in the supply line from LG to rush them out to costco in the next 2 weeks while on sale, as they are having a hard time keeping up with demand on their own website. They are popular at this price.

Cheapest Samsung on Costco with auto dispense is $2k (only green not sold out here)
Cheapest GE on Costco with auto dispense is $1869, but no softener auto dispense.

Pods are out with kids and pets and sad to say teenagers in the house. And only several models have a way to introduce the pods correctly anyways.

For same reasons above, plus saving my septic system, and clothes for that matter etc. we don't do individual pours.

Then location for me: going into a small (very small) walk in closet that's only 38" wide and 45 deep. 78.5 high clearance. All top loaders are out. Only the shortest conventional stacked give you any height to slide it in stacked, and that's a feat in itself with hookups.

Has 240v and Vent (long) but it would be easier and nice not to use them.

The upcoming LG single combo still hasn't fixed the lack of lint trap problem so I'm not waiting on that one.

And LG makes a ventless heat pump washtower, the 202, but it is smaller at 4.5 and no auto dispense. I really would like the wasthower setup so as to have full size dryer if I could get ventless and auto dispense, but that seems a year plus away.

So I'm really looking at 2 options. The LG 300 Washtower, it leaves 4 inches of room on top, enough to put it on wheels and slide it in. . .or this GE Profile, which besides all the benefits that others have mentioned, would allow me space up top to put in a cabinet.

I wouldn't buy the LG 300 direct from them as they don't have any warranty past 3 years and even that one is expensive. But if the $1756 for the GE Profile directly from them came back I wouldn't hesitate to buy fromt them, and their 5 year warranty is only $100 more and it seems like a better experience with possible claims.

Anyways handful of kids and hairy pets. . .10 loads a week is nothing if we're not skipping the sheets etc. I bet the energy saved on this GE Profile over 5 years vs the Washtower would make up for the $550 sales price difference.
I just re-did a small laundry with this, it would be foolish not to get this GE with the space. Unit pushed all the way to wall makes the room feel alot bigger, and frees up cabinet space up or to the side.

I think a lot of the negatives people are saying about this unit don't seem to understand what it actually is. Even if clothes are labeled do not dry I wouldn't hesitate to put them in this dryer. It does not get hit like a conventional one and won't damage clothes in the same way we are all used to.

I agree. You can even wash swimwear or stretchy clothes in here as the heat generated to dry the clothes is much less. Only issue I just found is that my wrinkle free shirts don't come out as wrinkle free as with a regular dryer. Not sure I need to run them in a smaller load to get the wrinkles out. Or I may just get a steamer. I wash maybe a dozen shirts a year anyway since I work from home 😊

That's all up to him. I can't stress enough that the dryer vent should be clean professionally at least every 2 years.

Had mine installed yesterday. Works as expected with one caveat: It's a bit loud.

Apparently there's a recurring theme with these units that the heat pump can sometimes make a loud buzzing/whine when operating at certain points in the dry cycle. One person I saw post about it said they had two units and only one does it so it makes me think it's not necessarily "normal". My car's electric ac compressor actually makes a very similar noise, but it's only audible outside the car and the AC still works after 80k miles so I've never addressed it. Sitting in a room having to listen to it is a whole other story.

The delivery guys nearly killed themselves getting it in and installed, but I have a feeling I might be asking for a replacement. I don't want another unit brought in just to have the same issue though :/

One other thing to note is that lint getting past the filter is very much a thing, so I don't think people can argue savings on cleaning a dryer vent VS having to deal with lint on the coils. If I keep mine I'm going to add some foam to the gasket.

Is this eligible for any federal or state energy rebates?
I could not find any, even at my state level in NV. I just spent 6K on an A/C upgrade and will get $600 back on that one via the tax return.

Does anyone know if this qualifies for the new energy rebate program coming out or is at the state level that will determine what is where?

I'm concerned about this too. Could you try electrical tape as suggested here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipeBsqiKWsg

and report back if it reduces or resolves the issue?

It's also ventless and it will save a lot of energy outside of the energy it consumes which isn't always counted. If you have a gas dryer, it is cheaper to run, but you're paying for higher AC or heating bill due to the vent exhausting all your conditioned air.
Matt Risinger does a great video [youtube.com] describing the problems with a traditional dryer removing conditioned air (aka $$$) and sending it outside your house. His quick calculations is that an entire living room's worth of conditioned air gets sucked out of your house for every dryer load.

One video commenter [youtube.com] actually does the math and breaks down the actual $ loss of your conditioned air per year due to traditional dryers:
Quote :
Heating Main Assumptions:
  1. You have no EnergyRecovery System
  2. Your COP for heating is 1 (if use heat pump, this could be 2-4)
  3. Indoor/Outdoor Temp difference is 40degF
  4. Typical air density .075 lbm/ft^3
  5. Typical cp-air 0.24 Btu/lbm-F.
  6. 9000ft^3/load and 365 loads/year.
  7. Little difference in heat added to interior space with vented or unvented.
Heating Calculations:
  • Q = mass*cp*deltaT
    • where m = density*Volume*365 = 246,375lbm
  • Q = 246,375 * 0.24 * 40 * kwH / 3413 Btu = 693 kWhr
  • Cost = $0.114 * 693 = $79.
As you can see with the standard vented units, you spend about as much money restoring the household air as you do running the unit.
365 loads/year is a bit much, but $0.114 is also really low for much of the US, so the math kinda works. Over the course of 5 years, you're talking ~$300-700 in "conditioned air" savings depending on your loads/yr and $/kWh.

Did anyone else notice that when you go to costco.com directly and search for this washer dryer combo it does not show up in the results and the only way to get to that page is through this SD link and that's how I ordered it about 10 days ago and I received it a week ago.

Matter of fact I've been searching for this washer dryer combo from GE Profile since several months after I watched a video about it in early summer when a guy talked about it and how it had a heat pump which was very efficient and I searched for it on Costco forever and never found it until this SD alert so thank you OP.

I was a little bit afraid that the heat pump might be giving out cold air outside as air conditioners do in reverse and that would cool down my already cold basement more but then I realized after getting this washer dryer that it's a closed loop and no air gets out and no air goes in so that's a great feature.

I have one of these on order and when I ordered it the quickest delivery date was end of December. Now I see the price has dropped and it says they can deliver in 5 days, lol wtf. Wonder if I should cancel it and order at the reduced price - or keep my order (in no rush) and submit a price adjustment

In for 2, thanks OP!

The discount is good for up to 2 units, but each must be ordered in a separate order to get the full discount. Costco also has a $100 off promo for orders of two appliances, so I'll call customer service tomorrow and see if they can manually apply this to a pair of orders.
