Not good for spoken word, or acoustic instruments without heavy eq'ing. It's got a lot of heat in the upper mids and treble.
You need a SM58. $99 standard price, universally loved by everyone.

$299 supposedly, so not a bad deal. Seems like $249 is more common. Here's a review. https://www.soundonsound.com/revi...-m70-pro-x

I really like Bandrew's stuff. I wondered when I watched that though if part of the reason that he didn't like the hype in the upper was his having a higher pitched, slightly nasal voice. I read another review where the person said they had a similar voice and that they didn't like the way it emphasized some less pleasant frequencies. I think if you've good a lower voice, this might be good. I talked myself out of it even at this price because I would prefer if it had a flatter frequency curve to it.

If i dont own a microphone is this a good value for singer applications? I figured 100 for an almost 300$ microphone is good but not sure if its good compared to other microphone at 100 for singing

It's not even that it's a bad mic. I've played around with one for a minute in-booth. It's just that even for this price, there are better mics for the typical person's use case. Truly I agree that it would be great for recording lead guitar or maybe even violin or upper register woodwinds.

Can anyone recommend a good mic that can connect to tablets for recording singing and playing the piano?

SM58 is actually very capable for podcasting, livestreaming and recording. I've used this along with the Samson Q2U, Rode Podmic, SM7b and RE20. All very good mics at their respective price points but unless you're a very discerning listener and wanting that premium studio recording, it won't make much of a difference on platforms like youtube, twitch, etc.

at that price it might be worth a shot. I have the sm7b and the standout feature for me is the handling noise or lack of it. This thing with a bulky shock mount is silent...... but then again, probably most mics with a shock mount. I would skip myself, dont like the sound, something like the rode or audio technica sounds better and same price all the time.

I guess if you're talking about spoken voice, sure. I'm talking about recording music. The higher end mics you mentioned are easily discerned with a good mic preamp that has enough gain to properly power them. The difference is that most people don't have those and end up plugging them into a cheap interface. In that case, yes, the SM58 will definitely sound very similar to an SM7b.
