Just snagged these for use as the height-layer speakers for a 10.4 Auro3D setup. Will likely need to cross these over near 120Hz or higher, given the 3-inch "woofer." These will be paired with two Jamo S 809's + two S 803's + one S 83 CEN in the bed-layer, along with the Denon X3800H for a "dirt cheap" Auro3D setup.

Just learned about Auto3D. I had no idea it existed. Appears to be the most comprehensive 3D sound codec, far superior to Dolby ATMOS and DTS X. Where do you find content encoded with it?

Primarily, European markets, unfortunately. The upmixer has a following.

The rca tv of audio eh?
you can hate it easily, hiding wires and using brain power to get a good surround setup isn't easy or for everyone. but don't knock it, quality is up, latency is down, compared to any similarly priced wireless setup...

It's not really a content coded requirement.
It's an algorithm that simulates(upmixes) non object based codec/algorithm content.
It's used more as an alternative when you don't have "Atmos/DTS:X" content, not a replacement.
It's hit or miss on how well it works probably because its recommended layout doesn't work with some object based layouts.

Having tried both it's definitely not the same, object based codecs are better IMO.

The loudspeakers are passive so you need to add power.

You need a receiver/amp to power the speaker. They don't get power from the sub.

This is a 5.1 satellite package, no need to spend a lot on it.
I would recommend just looking for a used receiver, making sure it has the features you need.

I think they all, more or less, achieve the same thing in the end! Or at least come very close to a true 3D sound experience. It's all mixed and enhanced for effect, in the end. But the object based technology, if properly harnessed, should be better, you're right.

Found this which explains it pretty well:
