Actually, I just used it right before you tried. I hadn't got out to purchase any of these items yet to get my own code. Here is the thing - I just used the code on my Xbox account that had Game Pass for like 3 years and then lapsed and had just redeemed a free month from another promo just 2 months ago. So, it would appear that it does not need to be a new account - just an inactive one. Thanks by the way to bigrich147.

Was this an account with no subscription at all or did it have Core? My GPU expired today so I'm looking to do the conversion. Curious if this free month will convert Core to Ultimate or if it needs to be a completely inactive account.

The only important thing to note is your Xbox account has your games and your progress attached to it... You can have as many accounts as you want if you create them with different emails.

No subscription at all. I have never done the conversion deal before and I am not sure if this promo can be used for that.

Might just take one for the team and attempt to do the conversion with this code since I was planning on doing it with a full priced month of Ultimate anyways, if it doesn't work I'm only out 2 bucks. I'll come back with my results for anyone else curious
