Great deal. Got one for $135 last deal and have been very happy with it for the money. Just heads up: mine ended up being a top loader instead of string through like the product pictures. It also has brass saddles instead of steel like the pics. Still all wilkinson hardware/pickups. Guitar was set up pretty well from the factory with nicely dressed frets. Took off the factory strings, gave it a good clean, and installed new strings. That was all it really needed. Great platform to mess around with if you want to play with DIY upgrading.

I wish there was a decent Les Paul clone at around this price. Does anyone know of any?
Monoprice has the 66SB which is their Les Paul knock off. Haven't tried one but probably similar quality to this. Looks like the DLX version of the 66SB is on sale currently.

A bit more at $200 but still a steal.. head over to musicians friend or guitar center website and look up the Mitchell MS-470 "restock". The restock is $199 and the bang for buck is incredible. Tusq nut, locking tuners, Alnico V pickups with coil tap, and quality strings from the factory.
My daughter just started playing the electric base and her birthday is coming up soon. Would this work for her. I know nothing about these things and would just like to get her a intro device for her birthday so she can mess around when in her room

Telecaster knock off is a good first guitar, neck easy to play and no whammy bar to mess with tuning.
I have the cheaper version of this and think it's great.

How much does it weigh? Any idea on recommended weight for kids?
Kids would be better off with a 3/4 size guitar, which generally are designed for kids and are therefore already pretty lightweight. Look into a Squier mini Stratocaster or mini Jazzmaster. Once they are ready for a full size guitar (when they are at least 5 feet tall, give or take, depending on how long their arms are), Squier's Affinity and Classic Vibe Lines are the best budget guitars in my opinion. There are cheaper options in that realm, but Squier seems to have the most reliable quality control so you're less likely to have to go through the trouble of returning a guitar to an online retailer.

This is an electric guitar, not a bass. It would not be a good choice, unless she is interested in the guitar as well.

If your daughter is set on playing bass, you should know it is a different "class" of guitar meaning it has 4 strings and has a much lower and distinct sound. The tele on sale is a nice buy but it is a 6-string guitar and if she is open to playing a 6-string - go for it.
