I won't buy another cordless dyson for sure.
Any cordless vacuums I buy in the future will have to have the ability to swap batteries.

My battery seems to be dying now 3.5yrs later with a shedding dog. Honestly NEVER cleaned the filter and it started slowing down right after I did that a few months ago. And really just my max suction which I preferred vs the regular, but it is running for a long time on regular still.

I researched Dyson's when I bought mine. I decided on 8 direct from Dyson with $75 of extras I don't really use but it was a deal then. It was $300 then on a great deal. I read a lot about the 10 battery dying faster and went with the 8 and I'm not disappointed with it.

I think they're really trying to get the inventory out because they've brought out several more models.

My Dyson V7 is almost exactly 4 years old now and still going strong... I don't have pets and use it mostly on hard floors on 'low' though, so may be a bit contributor to its longevity.

Defective, it sounds like. I bought a refurb V6 5 years ago and it's still working as expected. Would be perfectly happy to buy a replacement battery after this amount of time, but it hasn't been necessary.

I'd say it's not a slickdeal price because it's an old model and does not include the fluffy head.

I just replaced it today using a battery I bought from Amazon (about $45).

There's also kits to let them take cordless drill batteries.
