I researched Dyson's when I bought mine. I decided on 8 direct from Dyson with $75 of extras I don't really use but it was a deal then. It was $300 then on a great deal. I read a lot about the 10 battery dying faster and went with the 8 and I'm not disappointed with it.
I think they're really trying to get the inventory out because they've brought out several more models.
