the Ryzen 5 7640U is a 6 cores 12 threads CPU

for $50 you can get a more powerful ASUS ALLY or LEGION GO

Looks like the Z1 extreme is cheaper @ $620 right now!

or as low as under $500 if open box.

You're not buying this for minor performance differences. A lot of these handhelds are very comparable in terms of FPS. You're buying this because it's significantly smaller than the Ally or Go, want a built in physical keyboard, or take advantage of the occulink port so you can run their seriously small egpu the GPD G1. If their QC and CS wasn't so spotty, I'd take this over an Ally or Go any day. The form factor is hard to beat, and it's the closest thing to being pocketable (if you rock Jnco jeans or cargos lol)

there is definitely not minor performance differences when you are talking about an entirely different GPU core count and 2 less cores on the CPU

for emulation PS3 THRIVES on high CPU count, there goes some perfomance out the door

again, the comparable ROG ALLY is $50 cheaper MSRP

not a bad product but a bad price

I would say the real benefit is going from 8 to 12 CUs on the GPU. Games are going to almost always be GPU bound on these handhelds and especially when you consider power restrictions there's not much benefit to going from 6 to 8 CPU cores. I've yet to find any games where my ROG Ally is CPU limited.

PC games will be GPU bound, but several emulators will be CPU bound. He makes a good point.

Regardless, i'd probably buy the GO instead. The bigger screen is great!

I would not buy the Go.

I bought both the Lenovo Go and Asus ROG Ally to evaluate them. Compared to the Ally the Go has many issues with the software. Perhaps in six months the situation will be different but it is not worth purchasing today.

Kinda want one, totally don't need it. But all I can think of when I see this, aside from my old Google G1/HTC Dream:

Roll out the crib, whitey hat on the crest
"Spamtec" like a badge on the right of my chest
Blip-blip on my Sidekick, I flip my wrist
SSH to my box, page down to next
My stats look good, what about my checks?
So many digits, it's a googolplex
Rotation of the earth like my spam subjects
Perplex the best, the wicked get no rest
