If you're willing to go down to 16gb ram and 512gb SSD, they have one available for $1999.

Thanks for the info. I got FOMO on this one and pulled the trigger today when it got down to 3 units left lol. With my cashback and cc rewards I got it for just over $1,800 out the door. And I will not have to upgrade this one when I get it. My goal was to get a good 4090 unit for under 2k, so I can't really complain.

Apparently, you can go to 64GB, but you may have to go lower speed to 4800mhz.(It's under the question and answer section at the bottom)

Which cashback rewards did you end up using? Best I found were 2% CB through samsung pay and 5% CB on PayPal (up to $1500) through Chase Freedom.

This deal is active again. I've been able to add to cart and checkout (but I didn't pull the trigger).

… I had just ordered the 4080 version last night since I thought I missed out on this deal. Might just send that back… maybe. For a less than $400 difference in price (taxes included), the 4090 is mostly worth it in terms of average fps scaling, and even 1% lows. Downside to 4090 laptops is, for an extra ~$362, sometimes it is actually SLOWER than the 4080! Ridiculous, but true due to higher clock speeds for the 4080.

I looked up reviews and comparisons all over the web. Easiest links I can recommend are Jarrod on YouTube (as usual). He has a few great videos relevant to these high-end Legion 7 gen 8 deals. Linkage -

2023 Legion 7 is a downgrade in many ways vs 2022, but gaming performance is vastly superior with the 4080 and 4090 obliterating the 3080ti

Mobile 4080 vs 4090 price/performance scaling was reasonable @ $500 price differential. Which makes a sub-$400 gap look even better for the 4090. Plus, setting raw rasterization aside, 16gb vram on the 4090 is a much safer bet in the coming years than 12gb.

4080 desktop gpu vs 4090 mobile. No surprise, more watts and better cooling = massive advantage.
https://youtu.be/z2531DDo55w?si=4nMRpTqnNUYXgl7c

One last thing, I also watched a lot of Alan Wake 2 videos using various 4080/4090 laptops (including Legion 7 of course). Sure it is just 1 Unreal Engine 5 game, but I gotta say that the 1% and 5% lows versus desktop performance are enough to give me pause at spending $2k+ on a laptop in November. Most of these Black Friday laptop deals will be matched or beaten in Feb through May as retailers clear out inventory. Plus, by that time we will have seen the expensive new fomo-inducing stuff from CES tested and a few more laptops with AMD x3d chips (Intel's cache-heavy CPUs aren't expected till summer at the earliest).

Further out in the horizon, tons of official confirmation from Nvidia/Intel/AMD/LG/etc make it pretty clear that 2025 will probably be an amazing (and expensive due to high demand) year for laptops -

- more affordable OLED/mini-LED options
- rtx 50xx series gpu (and hopefully solid AMD/Intel gpu competition)
- both Intel and AMD CPUs with huge cache increases à la 7800x3d
