Loved the ..
1. Fiat 500 scenes
2. Norway scenes ( having hiked to the pulpit rock)
3. Knowing that the stunts were in fact done by Tom..worth owning especially if you have a good home theater. I mean an actual theater at home. Not a large TV with a couple loud speakers.

This movie was too dialogue heavy and boring and unnecessary long takes of Tom cruise running more than usual. I am not sure how it got such praise from everyone.
Not only that, but the dialogue was poorly executed. Specifically in the exposition scenes where a group of characters took turns giving information dumps (think about the scene in the conference room). Each character sounds like an actor who is waiting their turn to recite their lines as opposed to them being actual people who are interjecting in the conversation to provide organic input. That happened multiple times throughout the movie.

Also, did I mention how bad the CGI was? You could tell that every care during the car chase in Rome was CGI, and then once they got in the yellow car, both the car and all of the people in the city square were obviously fake. It was so bad. Ordinarily I wouldn't be so critical of subpar CGI, but quality CGI should be expected in a film/franchise like MI.

The poor CGI didn't ruin the Fiat 500 scene for you?

I didn't notice it.

My complaint is not the CGI. I think they overhyped the motorcycle jump scene. It was in the trailer, movie posters, pre-movie behind-the-scenes videos...so by the time we see it in the movie, it's like, "Well, I basically already saw this." Would've been better if the studio kept that under wraps until it's revealed to the audience for the first time in the actual movie.

And I agree with one poster who said they spent too much time focusing on Tom running. I get it that him running in every movie is a thing. But it was too protracted, I think. Minor complaint; not a dealbreaker.

But ultimately, my biggest thing is Ilsa ...though I have a hunch that will be rectified in part 2.

I love the whole series too (but MI:2 doesn't exist for me). And the original TV show. The first movie is more or less exactly what I'd expect a movie version of the show to be, twisty backstabbing plot aside.

From 2 on they became stunt-driven action movies. I really don't mind that as long as they were SMART. You have to realize, the first one worked in spite of its lone fight scene being Tom Cruise nearly getting his ass kicked by Jon Voight(!)

Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation are the sweet spot for me. You have all the fun of the high risk missions on top of peak Tom Cruise Nearly Killing Himself for Our Entertainment. The Burj Dubai stunt is cool partially because it's part of a well-plotted, tense and exciting heist.

Now all we have left is the backstabbing and the action, very obviously arranged to support Cruise riding a dirtbike off a cliff, which may have been really dangerous but on screen is kinda ... whatever. At what point does Ethan Hunt amaze us with what comes out of his brain? The entire movie makes less sense than the "[email protected]" scene from the first one.

I can't complain. I thought Fallout ended in a good place for everyone so I still have 5 incredible movies I can watch over and over again. If they do more Mission Impossible it really should be a reboot of the TV series with an ensemble cast.
Yeah, this is all true, though I haven't seen this recent one. Honestly, I love this series a lot more than it deserves. In fact, the answer to "What's my favorite genre of movies" is "Mission Impossible."

I will say for 2 that I think it's underrated. I think it's the weakest for sure, but I think it really suffered for being the the most ridiculous in the series and coming right after the most serious. MI1 was a pretty serious movie, but the 2-6 (and I assume 7) were all sort of ridiculous fun. If 2 had come after establishing this ridiculous tone, I think it wouldn't have been so jarring.

Personally, I saw 2, and I was like "WTH" is this!? And ignored Mission Impossible until Rogue Nation, which I reluctantly agreed to. I was pleasantly surprised and became a huge fan of Christopher McQuarrie.

Incidentally, I saw him the bathroom. I did not say hi.

Love all the edgelords whining about this movie when it is at 96% at Rotten Tomatoes and 94% for audience.

This certainly isn't much of a deal but it is a really good movie (or at least half of a really long movie) that has been insanely popular from almost everyone who has seen it (other than the coole kids here)

Nothing beats the physical media or ripped mkv of it in terms of audio / visual quality despite what other "streamers" would tell you.
