Sam's club scan and go is superior to its Walmart counterpart, and it has gas where most Walmarts don't. and it's 20$ a year....how cheap can you be?

Its normally like 45$. Its now 20$. This is a deal. You may not like it, it may not be the best it ever was, but it is the best it currently is. If it doesnt benefit you, thats fine.

Now are you just bashing on it because its the same company ass walmart, or do you say this for costco and bjs deals too?

It was $15 till 10/22 when I signed up. It said it wasn't available for renewals and kept prompting me to renew at full price from an email address that didn't have it for 7+ months. Eventually it let me get through but it deleted all my previous purchase history and lists.

This promo is good till January if you wanted to wait and see it a better deal pops up. They offer % back in SamCash for HBO subs and Peacock which will be up for renewal for some soon(yearly and monthly)

As mentioned in a different post, the Gmail + trick is no longer valid but they are now using phone numbers to keep track of customers, so in theory, you need to put a random number and change it back after signing up.

They seem to be doing 2 factor authentication so that probably won't work.

what? Did they upgrade their mechanism? lol, I just did mine last week and there is no SMS verification required. I guess you can use a family member's number or just get a free Google Voice number if it works.

So regarding this

does this mean if your membership has been expired for 6 months, then you're considered a new member again?

$20 for new membership does not seem like a great deal to me. That's basically the offer I got in email last year when my membership had just expired (had already setup a "new" membership via a new account). So without freebies, that seems like the regular sale level. Better than rack rate but like hotel rates, that's not saying much for Sam's membership.
