Seems like the best price on a new printer that includes lidar, camera, and enclosure that is also core xy fast printing. I have the k1, it's sweet, but this is the big brother.

Bambu printers require an Internet connection to operate?
Somewhat. You lose some features going through sd.

Also of note, it's a Chinese company with Chinese servers. For hobby stuff, you're fine, for proprietary and business stuff I'd suggest doing more research and properly assessing the risks involved.

Ive not used this printer but from past experience with Creality machines / products they tend to need a lot of attention to make them work properly or even at all. Crealtiy likes to make quick and cheap sales to flood the market. Often this is done before they even fully understand and can properly support the product. There are a lot of companies that make "clones" of other products but tend to cut corners when doing so. I use to use their products exclusively for years until the recent mess of the sonic pad and klipper. They really lost me then. A product that sounded great but was virtually a brick for 6 months to a year before developement got it to somewhat work. Creatlity firmware has been lacking behind the curve for years. I have since moved on from them and have not looked back. There is an old saying that usually holds true. You get what you pay for. I choose to make an investment in a higher end machine and its been the smoothest sailing in the hobby I have ever had

Creality printers are decent machines if your willing to tinker with them. If your looking for set it and almost forget it kind of thing, look elsewhere.
I have the K1 Max, not really any tinkering like my old ender 3. Honestly, just use a different slicer like Orca and it prints great. On par with my Bamboo P1S

I own the creality K1 Max and Bambu P1S. Both machines are excellent in my experience, with Bambu coming out on top. At this price though, creality is a great buy. Both machines have their faults but both for me have printed great. Lots of people don't like the closed source of Bambu..... Your choice, I have had no issues with it. What I did with it was allowed only the ports out that it needs, blocked everything else on my firewall, that is if security is your concern. But the slicer is better and prints do come out better. However, with creality, they just recently unlocked the machine and now you can use other slicers. I feel my prints are much better using Orca slicer vs creality. If I were to buy one machine it would be the Bambu, but, I also got their AMS which is in my opinion a game changer for me.

I wonder if it will still be better running custom firmware. That is the beauty of going creality.

I prefer prusa slicer and superslicer over cura which is what the creality slicer is based on.

Could very well be. Honestly I don't know, I came from an ender 3, had to level my bed all the time, my extruder etc. Lots of little things that just got annoying. I like to tinker with things but not so much my 3D printing I guess. These machines have both been printing great from day 1. I have had issues here and there but the auto bed leveling and the AMS on the Bambu has been really nice.

I might try custom firmware down the road.

May I ask how you use the AMS? From what I read, it wastes massive amount of filaments when changing filaments and it does that for each layer?
Do you have to carefully design your model so that the color is changed less frequently layer-wise? Or do you just not care about the filament waste?
I'm just a hobbyist and I mainly download designs online. I also don't like massive wastes. I wonder AMS is right for me. Some Youtube channels showed truly unacceptable level of wastes. (more waste than the actual product) I wasn't sure if they purposefully chose a design so that it maximized the waste for views, or if that was just typical expected wastes.

MicroCenter here in Atlanta is all out, no ETA if any at this price.

But Creality has a flash sale on them for $704 shipped (+tax) if you use the code BFCM15.

I used PayPal to get another 2% off, so out the door for me was $732.

A bit more, but at least I am getting one...

I have both K1 and K1 Max and have had few issues with them. If you want a faster printer and only need 1 color at this build volume it's a good deal. I've printed many masks and other large pieces on the K1 Max and it was typically a better and faster result than what I was getting on my anycubic kobra plus (v1).

Great deal, but no new available in Dallas for over a month, and no shipping allowed. 2 open-box for $800+. 🤣 Initial batches had print quality issues, but hopefully they have fixed those.
I've had a k1 for a month and picked up this deal yesterday, the issues have been resolved. very nice printer.

As with all things 3D printed, the better you understand the trade-offs and the settings the better things get. With the Bambu AMS both the design matters as well as whether you flush to infill or support, what flushing volumes you use, etc. I have some models that only have a few color changes and almost no waste. I have others that are wasteful as heck. But it's that or step up to a multi-extruder printer which is a whole different ballgame.
