I will never understand the need to be upset about the choices that other people make. It's like people getting mad that someone uses iPhone (or Android). It does not affect your life, just let it go.
If neither of you are bothered, I suggest simply thinking "Ah, this deal is not for me, as I don't want to rent an EV" and then moving on. I would never, for instance, click on a LuLuLemon deal and say "I would never wear that." It's fine that it's not for me, and I hope other people enjoy the deal.

As for this deal, you're essentially getting 50% off for renting two days. 50% off seemed like a good enough deal to me to consider getting one on my next rental.
It can be more convenient if the place you're staying at has a place to charge. No need to stop by a gas station and waste 5-10 minutes. A typical 120v outlet is usually good enough. EVs are great if you're staying within a region.

If your planning a long road trip with more than 500 miles a day, then I prefer a gas car.

Exactly...I was skeptical. Planning to get another Toyota hybrid next year but last week when my brother came home from abroad and we rented the 3 on turo...I loved it. I think we'll get the Y instead of the Toyota hybrid.
you are crazy to get a battery powered vehicle over a hybrid

I have owned our Tesla going on three years now, have put 56K miles on it and done several trips to Florida and Colorado.

The "inconvenience" of charging an EV is laughable. If you insist on stopping every 400 miles for a 5 minute fuel up and never again, so be it, that isn't my style of driving and you should keep driving an ICE.

For everyone else? You're stopping every 2-2.5 hours to charge for about 15-20 minutes (arrive with 5-10% in the battery and charge to ~50-60% and be on your way). I feel way better on trips, and if I am obsessed with getting there as fast as possible I am flying anyways.

I would never go back to ICE at this point for daily driving, it just doesn't make sense to me. Charge at home (if you can't, it isn't for you either) and never waste time at a gas station again. I'll guarantee you spend more time waiting to filling up your cars over the course of a year than I spend waiting on our EV to charge, because the only time that is ever done is if I am going out of town.

That "you don't realize it yet" statement is a silly gate keeping statement. As if someone cant figure out if something is better for them and need you to determine that for them.

One last edit, I just did a 700 mile drive for work and rented a Model Y. So to that "most EV owners don't prefer blah blah blah" nonsense .. I would love to see the metrics you're pulling from to get that statement.
you have 44k miles left on your warranty

120v is good enough if you have a full day to let the car sit and charge, kind of defeats the point of renting.

Who want's to worry about charging when renting? You have to be pretty committed.

Flew to PHX and met up with a vendor. He decided to get a Tesla just for the hell of it. Got locked out on day #1 and spent hours trying to get back in remotely.

Bro, just look up the posts these people make. When they talk to other EV fanboys, they admit everything you said was right. They're not the brightest.

The media is not what it used to be. They don't have the professionals they used to have. They're basically dependent on whatever corporation pays them to spread their marketing for them. No one pays for papers or media anymore or watches the news. What's left are the corporate brown-nosers or agenda-based hacks, also funded by various billionaires or agenda-based groups, paid to spread their propaganda.

A lot of yuppies and white collar types are notorious for jumping on bandwagons without doing any research. Pay off the right media outlets and they will believe anything. They will fall for it for a while until they learn the hard way and the smug smile of superiority is wiped from their face.

Someone at my workplace used to have a Ford Mustang Mach-E. Think there were two, there were two different colors, but I'd never see them together the same day so I think they bought them for their spouse and drove whatever one they felt like driving. I don't see it anymore. I guess they got sick of it. It might have been the superintendent, which would make sense. He fancies himself as a big techie.

Awww I am so glad to see you are so concerned for the people buying EV's .. I am sure "we" would love you guys to shut up as well and stop trying to convince us that we are wrong. It sounds more like you're worried that it will be successful so you're waging your disinformation campaign as best as possible.

LOL, I think it is the other way around and everyone knows it. These threads are full of "investors" trying to convince everyone they are stupid if they don't buy a Tesla.

The fleet data is out from Hertz. They are pulling back on teslas because of the high maintenance cost and rapid depreciation.

No need for disinformation, the pain is real.

I don't care if someone buys a Tesla or not, I couldn't care less what ANYONE buys. What I am sick of are people convinced that they know better than anyone else, especially those that own the cars in the first place.

Nor do I care what Hertz is doing, I rented from them because we have a single car and if I have to rent again I'll rent an EV. Does this mean others should do it? No, I dont care what they do.

Edit: I have to ask, what high maintenance costs are they claiming? Besides tires .. there isn't much you're doing maintenance on.
