I have the original blu ray and the 4k steel book version. The blu ray definitely goes deeper. More so than I feel my dual hsu vtf-3 mk5 can accurately reproduce. I am also Dirac live Calibrated.
I do, however prefer the 4k version due to the Atmos and more tamed lower frequency. The first battle scene on the beach really is an amazing atmos scene.
It's a real shame. Highly enjoyable movie in general. Lots was done right on the 4K, but the completely neutered bass makes the 1080 my go to for this movie.

When I went to buy my 2 SVS PB-2000s from a guy locally this was the movie he put in to show me that they were in good working order. Everything in his house was shaking and I watched the window blinds jumping around. I stopped him after that opening scene and said "that's enough". lol

Wow, this guy is excellent! I really enjoy how mellow and chill he is! Total breath of fresh air among all the other loud and obnoxious utubers.
Yep. I've tried a dozen reviewers over the past few months, and he's the best and most grounded for me. "Cereal at Midnight" is another who has other strengths, is a bit quirkier and sometimes long-winded, but whose analyses I enjoy sometimes. So many others are just either deadly fkn boring as hell or just super-obviously shilling for link-clicking.

If the video is the same length between the two formats, you can rip both and remux the 1080 soundtrack with the 4k video.
I've done this for a different movie and it's pretty easy with mkvtoolnix.

A better/easier option may be is have a player that upscales well.
The PQ and AQ transfer on this wasn't that great.
As people mentioned the object bass soundtrack bass was softened and Atmos is nothing to write home about.
It definitely isn't a movie I would consider to show off what it's capable of.
If you want to utilize the Atmos speakers, there are algorithms on some AVRs that will do that also.
Sad really, a movie that had a lot of upside with a good transfer.

edit: on 4k, anything under 30hz was cut off.
