I'd go Sony all day over TCL
The 85 incher needs to come down to earth.
I have the 75 R635. Stay far far away. Horrible motion, buggy software, awful DSE. Will never buy TCL again. Like others have said no 2.1 HDMI but will do 120hz at 1440p.

This or the Costco TCL 65R635 for $630? I know Sony is an overall better TV but for an average guy is it $370 better? I've checked Rtings and both seem to be in the same ballpark. Sony slightly better on the mixed usage metric.

Edited - I'm not a gamer if that makes a difference.

Rtings reviewed the 65" size, and the results are in the thread description. This is what they had to say, "The Sony X90L is a great TV overall. Thanks to its high peak brightness, it's great for watching shows or sports in a bright room. It looks fantastic in a dark room for gaming or watching movies in HDR thanks to its high contrast ratio and full array local dimming feature, and it gets bright enough to bring out bright specular highlights in HDR. Thanks to its low input lag and quick response time, it's great for gaming, and it supports advanced gaming features like VRR. It has a narrow viewing angle, so it's not a good choice for a wide seating arrangement."

The only thing I see is there are no HDMI 2.1 slots on the Roku TV, not a deal killer if you don't game.

Final price turned out to be 1082 after taxes. However after a while I got charged another $70 by Costco. Seems like they were charging me for the 3 year Allstate insurance plus tax which showed as included in the purchase for free when purchasing. When I called them about this second transaction, they said it's just a hold or something like that. Sounded like even they weren't sure why I was being charged and were refusing to refund. YMMV but definitely keep an eye out for this extra charge. I'm thinking of canceling the order altogether and just order from Best Buy. Happened to anyone else?

Wouldn't worry about it until the transaction actually posts to your account. Likely it'll just disappear if it's a hold.

Oh okay. It's the first time I've ordered something online on Costco and was surprised to see a second transaction. I guess I'll just wait until it actually gets posted.

I'm pretty sure the $30 is for setup. If you choose room of choice drop off it should be free shipping.
