This is the first time I've ever seen an OCuLink port on a mini PC. Odd that it isn't on Amazon, but that means it was just released this year.

Yes, I think this is the 1st one to have it. Before that, I think GPD has some of their handhelds with Oculink port, WinMax2 and Win Mini.

I wish they offered a chassis upgrade raising the height about 6" but same width/depth so you could install a full size desktop tower cooler.

You do realise that for installing a desktop class cooler, you need to have the mounting holes and the mounting brackets in the motherboard which is literally impossible with a mobile chip based mini PC, using soldered processor.

And 2nd point is why you need that in the 1st place. These Mobile chipsets has a maximum TDP of 70W to 80W and the cooler they provide is more than enough for it. It is not a 100W TDP Processor which can consume near 200W during load.

As of now, there is hardly any Oculink based eGPU docking station available where you can add a desktop graphics card. You need to buy components to build one like Oculink to PCIe X16 slot board, your own PSU.
Take a look at this video about how to set it up.

TechTablet has just published the review of this beast, including the external GPu connection using OCuLink.

I don't think you can do much with that except open it up and using the PSU inside it. Check the YouTube video link I have posted in my previous post about the review of this exact PC, including OCuLink setup. Techtablet (Chris) also used the PSU of his Thunderbolt eGPU dock to power the OcuLink setup and the GPU.

This really doesn't have an Oculink "port" so much as it has an ingenious m.2 extender that goes in the second m.2 slot and positions the port by the opening in the case. People should know that you lose one of the two m.2 slots if you want the Oculink option.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/MINISFORUM-reveals-new-details-about-AMD-Ryzen-9-7945HX3D-and-Intel-Co... [notebookcheck.net]

Edit: I do have the UM790 Pro, I did jump on this deal as I woke up around 4am on release day and saw it available. The processor is barely a noticible downgrade. If you up the TDP to 80W, it actually should be faster, although the same can do the same with the UM790 Pro.

A desktop GPU with a 7945HX3D (that they are releasing) is my endgame PC (...for how long?) Ideally, I would prefer their BD770i motherboard with the 7945HX3D or even just the 7945HX with the Jonspro D31 Mesh.

MinusForum is brining it with these extremely capable Mobil CPU/APUs. Admitedly, I got tired of wasting hours of wiring up PCs and the time consumption of just the RGB wiring alone!

I digress. This or the UM790 Pro on a Slickdeal, are worth picking up. I paid $500 for barebones for the UM790 Pro last month on the Prime Deal. This deal is $21 cheaper.

I am selling these particular MiniPCs as video surveilance monitoring PCs...after I get my play time in with them. Barebones with maxed spec'd RAM, SSD and Ghost Spectre Win 11 Pro. I will keep one of the above mentioned setups as a keeper when released.

That was my rant. These Mini PCs are so worth the Price vs Performance and extreme minimus build time! If you don't have one and are on the fence, wait for an Amazon Deal and try it out.

Ye, you're correct but I have mentioned that information in the post itself

That looks awesome, I couldn't find any info on that motherboard's heatsink mounting, is it AM4/AM5 ?

I snagged a SER6 Max from Prime's Lightning deal for $363 with 1tb/32gb included, some people were able to get it for $299. It is only 680M igpu but it'll hold me over until Strix Halo comes out early '25. Hopefully there will be more mobile->desktop motherboards options available then.

There are some good deals to be had, if one is patient. Also say the next gen beelink (Ser7 max, Zen4 7840HS, 32gb, 1tb, 780M graphics) for as low as $510.
