Good price for a 4080. Would just need to put in another 16gb ram. Only the Omens have come to a lower price this season so far for a 4080. Hopefully others do the same in the next few weeks
Only one USB-C/thunderbolt port. Most competing laptops have 2. It does still have the ability to run 3 external displays.
Screen maxes out at 350 nits, most competing laptops are 500-1000 nits. Color quality is similar to the Legion Pro 7(but the Legion is brighter), brightness is similar to the Alienware (but the Alienware has better color). Also, it's 16:9, most competitors are 16:10.
SSD performance is excellent.
Battery life is poor.
All that said, this is an excellent price for a high performance gaming laptop, so if you don't mind the trade-offs, go for it.
They're disposable toys made of mostly cheap plastics and silicon that lose 75% of value and their place in the market within just 2-3 years.
I can rent the gaming performance from geforce now or similar for around $10 a month and have a thin lightweight silent laptop instead that doesn't cook my lap or drain my solar batteries for way less.

This is the way it is with most tech. Although if you timed your purchase right prior to the last mining craze you would have made money! I do agree with you on solar though. We have a back up battery with panels but living up north we cannot live off solar alone.

The 500nit+ are only on mini-LED screens. Expect to pay $$$ more for the privilege. Most gaming laptops are 300nit. You don't need more unless you go outside, which may be difficult with a 17" laptop. Also, battery life is on par with other large desktop replacements. That is, 4-5 hours. There was a bug where the dGPU was not disengaged on battery. I don't know if it was fixed but you can manually switch to integrated graphics yourself.

Not a gamer, but I am a machine learning/AI developer, so I do need the dGPU.
