I have the 5 and largely love it but it will frequently cut out heart rate monitoring during workouts (on my second from Costco as I returned the first one because of this thinking it was defective, but no, that's just how it behaves) So I'm tempted by this but man those bad reviews are just that- bad. Anyone want to sound off that has a charge 6 to reassure me that it's worth upgrading for the improved heart rate monitoring?

Also, a note, since Google purchased Fitbit, the premium subscription is no longer stackable. If you've already used a previous 6-month, one year, 90 day, whatever- from a different band purchase, it will not let you claim another freebie (usually...)

Did they put the altimeter back in?

The Charge line used to have it. Then they took it out for some reason. Which, together with the terrible app update in Sep 2023, made me switch to an Apple Watch. Not convinced the Apple Watch is any better. It does have an altimeter though. (Obviously it cost 4x as much as this tracker.)

Even $50 trackers by other brands have an altimeter.

Nope, they added Google apps (and music control for just YouTube music) and in theory improved the HR monitoring (they claim "60% more accurate than the previous generation"...) Not only is it still missing an altimeter, but last I checked even if you use the fitbit app on your (Android) phone to log exercises instead of the built in gps on the band it will still not log your elevation change even if your phone has an altimeter.

Even though I got an Apple Watch back in 2018, I still use my Fitbit on my other arm. Still on the Fitbit 4 which seems to be on its last legs, but once it dies I think it might be my last from this ecosystem.

These are great. It runs up nearly 4K steps just by driving over the causeway. I can easily make my 10K step goal M-F!

I have a charge 5 and the battery wont hold a charge for more than a few hours at less than 2 years old. This started happening suddenly most likely due to a bad software update and has effected many others as well. Fitbit does not seem to care to acknowledge or to attempt to fix the issue so I will probably be done with Fitbit. I am back to using my charge 2 with its cracked screen, but its battery still works for several days.

Since google bought it.. it's kinda went downhill. I had the charge 2 or 3, blaze, then Apple Watches, and recently charge 5. I'm not that impressed by the advancement from my earlier charge years ago to my current one. The community is dead and they keep pushing their subscription service.

Sense 2 which was there previous flagship, was released with half the features of the original sense at the same price. It performs exactly the same as my original versa.

Fitbit makes BAD products. They're highly inaccurate in every way and are basically entry level digital watches for people that can't afford an apple watch.

I only use mine to tell time and a stop watch now. This will be my last digital watch.

Doesn't Fitbit charge $9 per month for their app if you want all the featured unlocked, such as sleep monitoring? Garmin doesn't pull this crap.

I find most of these inaccurate for steps and things like the stairmaster. Tried Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, Fitbit Charge 4..

That's sad. It just proves what we always knew: they didn't remove it because it's an expensive piece of hardware. ($50 trackers have it.) They removed it thinking if you want it, pay up for a more expensive (and bulky) model. They screwed the app so bad, I switched to an Apple Watch. It's not any better for excercose tracking, but at least women will no longer think I'm dirt poor. (They'll just think I'm poor and clearly can't afford a Patek Philippe. LMAO)

Seems to be that way with all of them. They haven't fixed it since the very first Charge HR. I don't even have to be working out, just plain walking and it won't even measure the heart rate. And I wear a Fitbit because I have tachycardia and I can be just sitting or laying in bed and if my heart rate starts going above 120 bpm or so, it has a hard time registering. It's ridiculous really why they haven't resolved this issue.
