I bought this for $400 about a year ago. Upgraded to 64gb ram and added more storage. When playing a game with plenty of graphics, it's still noticeable lag. I use it for mostly for work, not so much for gaming. Don't expect PS5 quality for this price. If you're going to buy for gaming, there's a lot of PS5 deals instead.

If you want the best gaming experience you don't settle for a console or laptop...
Between the 10 to the 20 to the 30 series the changes were not that huge in raw 1080p performance, especially when you look at the --50 series of cards they were always being capped and gimped.
That being said for this being the lowest end 3050 4GB model for it to out due a 1060 especially with a i7 combo CPU, means it can play Triple AAA titles from 3-4 years ago without any problems at 1080p which for a laptop under $500 is amazing. Its not thermal performance, its actually the VRAM constraint of only being 4GB the 6GB version can average 5-15 more frames depending on the game, so there is nothing awful about that. Try to find another laptop you can do 1080p gaming on for under $500 without issues and get back to me. The best buy $550 deal was worth the upcharge for the 6GB model.
Agreed, I always had a desktop for real gaming, but lately I been moving every year and I think for my next computer I am just going to get a laptop for easier transportation.

Perhaps this means by Black Friday or Cyber Monday there will be a 4050 laptop that is not underpowered and for less than $600?
Where did you find it was a 45W version I didnt see that in the specs or the manual on the website? If it is a 45W version its actually not that good of a deal at all as I just saw the comparison and its a huge downgrade from a 105W and 85W version of the same card(20-40% less frames). I was able to get one, but at this point might just return it since I never opened it.

Comment in the thread, that's it. I don't think anyone would make up a story about that, but if I was able to get one myself I would have confirmed it officially.
Hope it's not actually 45W though, so that it will perform like a true 4050. By now you probably know for sure one way or the other.

Nope, still in the box, if its a 45watt 4050 its not worth the premium $150+ and I will wait for the 3050 6GB victus model to go back on sale hopefully on BF. Or finally man up and get the 4070 Asus tuf for $1000.

Or just build a small gaming desktop... small enough to be somewhat portable. You know you want to.
