Atlantic Knives has this for $98.95, use code PRICEDROP5 to bring it down to $94.00, free shipping. This/these may have been around this price for a while but this one is the Purple that apparently comes with a comic book [kaiusa.com]. Assisted open framelock. US Made. Blade is on the thin side but from reading up on MagnaCut it seems it's fine for this steel.

If you don't care for the aesthetics of the purple and Edge logo Blade HQ has the blue (handle only) for $104.99 [bladehq.com] or $109.51 with the black oxide coating on the blade [bladehq.com], and Chicago Knifeworks has the red for $106.19 [chicagoknifeworks.com] without and $111.51 [chicagoknifeworks.com] with coating.

The only thing I found with MagnaCut that comes close to this price is a Spyderco Salt with slipjoint. Historically just saw a Hogue last year for $90.

Is magnacut as good as advertised? Haven't got anything with it yet.

It'll be my first, but here's a detailed writeup with data from the creator of it: https://knifesteelnerds.com/2021/...-magnacut/

I understand the positive reviews of the Leek but for my use the blade shape is more of a negative than useful. Magnacut is a good blade but if you don't really need high corrosion resistance, some of the other premium steels could be had for a lower price.

Thanks for the article.

I will be keeping an eye out for a Magnacut knife. I did carry a Leek for a while but it is really too small for my hand. I need something around 3.5" or so. Something as thin as the Leek would be great and it sounds like Magnacut would be the perfect steel.

I like to collect knives but I've never found a good Leek deal before. Is this about as cheap as you can get it??

No but it depends on the steel, this is more high end others can definitely be had for less.

Maybe the Hogue mentioned above will be for you then.

I was just actually looking at it. Still a bit on the small side.

The thing I found strange is that site has the Magnacut version on sale for less than the other Deka sale prices.

The article above seems to say it excels in toughness as well..

I mostly would buy this for the street cred that one gets with purple and the word "edge" featured

It actually excels in all three categories they look for in knives. Toughness, corrosion resistance and edge Resistance. Magnacut does well in all three. My point is, there are some steels could that do better in toughness and edge retention and could be had at a lower price than some magnacut knives.
