Would GameStop care if one of the controller's joystick has a decent amount of wear and tear?
As long as it doesn't look messed up and the controller connects to the system then they probably won't care. They're not going to load up COD and see if there is stick drift or anything.

It works just fine. Mostly the rubber is peeling a bit on the joystick

Only thing appealing with the so called slim, is that you can buy digital version today and then later upgrade to add disc drive later? That seems appealing

Thoughts on if I should trade in launch day disc PS5 for this? Unsure if the extra year warranty is worth the 100. Also, if this will have similar trade in value as slim later on when it's time for PS5 Pro or PS6, is it even worth it? Does anyone remember from ps4 and ps4 slim days. Already have a 1 tb expansion. Also, I will likely sell these games so not really worth the full 70 they cost. Thanks in advance.

Dang, tempted but don't really use the disk drive at all

I understand the benefit but I'm all digital with my media consumption

I've had a lot of headaches with my launch ps5. The controller had stick drift and the system died twice. Like it would not turn on, and was completely dead. The first time the warranty covered it (I think they replaced it) and the second time I took it to a local place because it was cheaper to repair than Sony. But they kept upping the price once they took it apart and I said "just put it back exactly how it was and I'll just go with Sony for repair". What's interesting is Sony sent it back and said there's nothing wrong with it (they sure did keep my money though). Sure enough they were right. It turned on just fine.

To those crapping on this deal, I get it. But for someone like me, this is a perfect situation and I traded in as soon as the store opened. They DO test the controller there for those who asked. She hooked it up to a computer and did all the inputs and it lights up on the screen. She mentioned the stick pulling but it passed the computer test so I guess she let it slide.

I got the 407, and as soon as I hit the car, I put it toward the spidey slim bundle. I was already a pro member so was able to put my monthly 5 and redeem points for another 10 towards it. I paid 106.59 out of pocket. If you subtract the 74.20 I would've absolutely paid for Spidey, it's 32.39 for a newer console, one year warranty and controller that actually works. Super slick for my situation and a big thank you to to the OP and others who contributed information to this thread!

Is the tax calculated on the $499.99 or remainder balance after gift card (92.99)?

It should be on the 92.99. Similar when you trade in a car and you only pay tax on the difference.

it depends on the state that you live in.
for me, in jersey, they tax on the amount AFTER the trade in credit is deducted.
so let's say they gave me $400 trade credit and I owe $100, they charge tax on the $100

Umm how did you pull that off? I got taxed on the full amount in nj
My receipt shows trade in 407, then after that the new PS5 then taxable amount which is the full retail then my payment of the difference.
If it's incorrect I will call them tomorrow to fix because there's a big difference
Just called with GameStop to explain and they said it would be After trade in. Ugh. Can't wait to go back tomorrow so the store I bought it at can tell me nope

Has anyone been able to confirm tax situation for Washington? Seattle? I did call a store but read online that no tax is assessed if used in the same transaction so 🤷 ♂️

Not here...Tax is charged on the full amount. It varies by state it seems.

Los Angeles, CA GameStop charged tax on the full amount (which makes sense, the trade in is just applying the value against the item you are purchasing).
