I just saw this, but as of this writing, the trade-in value for a pixel 7 pro is only $250, which is pretty sad for their most recent flagship phone!
The price is a joke for a mid-range device from Google.
Yeah they better up their trade-in values. Typing this from my 6a I got last year for free with trade-in of 5a.

I have the pixel 8 pro coming from S21plus. I do agree that this is overpriced/overhyped phone. Their camera is overhyped.Having been a long time Samsung customer, I just chose Pixel for a change and regret it. I reckon Samsung is far superior android experience from software perspective/trade in value perspective/eco system etc.

I'm a longtime Fi user and unless I misread the offer, they're offering $400 discount off the price for a Pixel 8 Pro for existing Fi users as long as you remain on Fi for 120 days, which is tempting.

When you buy or finance the Google Pixel 8 Pro
  • Activate the phone on Fi within 30 days
  • The person who activates must be an existing Google Fi customer, and be part of your group plan
  • Remain active on the qualifying device for 120 days
  • Offer ends January 3, 2024 or while supplies last
  • Offer can only be used once per group member
  • See terms and conditions
  • But here's what happens if you cancel or pause service
  • Canceling service, switching devices, or leaving your account stops the promotion. The $400 discount will be charged to your Google Pay account.

T&C
$400 off Google Pixel 8 Pro
Get a $400 phone discount with the purchase and activation of a Google Pixel 8 Pro phone from store.google.com.

How do I qualify for the $400 discount?
  • An existing Fi customer is someone who currently has Fi service or whose last day of Fi service took place within the last 180 days.
  • To qualify for the $400 discount, you need to do all of the following:
  • Purchase the device or currently be in a group plan with the purchaser.
  • Activate the phone on an existing full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation.
  • Remain active and in good standing on the qualifying device for 120 consecutive days. Pausing, changing, or suspending the account will void the promotion.
  • The discounted price will automatically apply during checkout. If you do not meet the conditions above, $400 will be charged to your Google Pay account.
  • Any other details to know?
  • Offer is valid while supplies last or while the promotion is live and available on the fi.google.com site.
  • For individual plans, limit one per person. For group plans, limit one per group plan member.
  • Offer is only available to U.S. residents 18 years or older, and requires Google Pay and Google Fi accounts.
  • Unless otherwise stated, this offer cannot be combined with other offers.
  • Discount is not transferable and is not valid for cash or cash equivalent.
  • If Fi determines that this offer is used in connection with abuse, misuse, or fraud, or if the account used to purchase the phone is not in good standing, the discounted amount will be charged to your Google Pay account.
  • Void where prohibited.

Could you sign up for Fi just before buying the phone and get the same discount?

Sad to see the corporate greed. They give higher trade in for iphones to switch but for loyal pixel users, the trade in values r abysmal. Gonna stick with my pixel 7.

It looks like for new Fi customers, the offer is $700 back on the Pixel 8 Pro, via 24 monthly bill credits. Or $699 back (huh, $1 difference?) for the regular Pixel 8, again, after 24 monthly bill credits.

https://fi.google.com/about/phones

And because it's 24 monthly bill credits, that implies you have to keep the service activated for 24 months.

No, there was (or still is?) a separate deal where you get $400 off a P8P if you keep an existing Fi line open for 120 days.

I was wondering if I could just activate that Fi service on my existing phone, then accept the offer, buy the P8P, and get that $400 discount (and probably cancel Fi after 120 days).

With how expensive cell plans are compared to ATT prepaid, none of the "free phone" deals make sense to me, but that $400 discount looked nice.

they added $100 to the pixel 7 trade in for a whopping $300. No thanks Smilie

This is a good thing in my opinion though. People shouldn't be swapping phones every year

I'd go with a 7a for $374. It's the best priced unlocked Pixel at the moment.

No, it's not. I've had the Nexus S, 4 and 5x. All failed within 2 years.

I've also had the Pixel OG, 2, 3a, 4 and 6. Only the 2 and 4 made it past the two year mark still functioning. The 6 developed dead pixels right after the warranty expired.

On the other hand, I've got 10 year old Samsungs and Apples in a drawer that still fire up and work perfectly.

Now that other OEMs have better software update policies. I'm finding it difficult to justify buying Google products unless on a fire sale...and this...ain't a fire sale.
We have a 3a and a 3a XL, both going strong. We're only looking to replace them because they're beyond support for security updates. Mixed feelings though because these phones have been solid and there are too many reports of ongoing problems with recent Pixels . . . Frown

Should work. Try it. Won't cost you anything.
