I was recently charged 149.79 for the annual Disney plus service with out ads. When I called customer service to cancel it based on the price increase, I was told I could add the Disney Plus basic to my already established Hulu Student account.

I assume you have to have the student account to get this to work. But if you do go into your account settings, there you will find a billings page with optional add-ons to your plan. Once you click that you will see an option to add Disney plus with ads to your Hulu account. NOTE: this can only be done thru your Hulu.com profile account and on Google chrome, not via the app or Disney website.

Total I am now being billed monthly is 4.27 for both streaming services vs the $9.99 monthly bundle price for the same services.

I forget exactly what the deal was that I got in on last year. I'm set to go from $4.98 a month to $10.98 in 3 days for Hulu w/ads and Disney + no ads so sounds like the same BF deal everyone is talking about from last year ($1.99 Hulu + $2.99 Disney+) It appears it's going to go up to $7.99 for the Hulu but still only $2.99 for Disney+ (no ads) add on. In addition to just the overall cost sounds like one needs to be careful that they are not losing the no ad Disney + version while trying to save money and get a new deal.

For anyone canceling and getting the 6 months extension a $1 more can you confirm your continuing with Disney + No Ads? Did you need to go back into Hulu and re-add Disney+ as an add on or did it just automatically continue at $2.99 no ads?

Confirmed. Hulu with ads Disney plus no ads. Didn't have to readd. It was already there

Welp, I was wrong - same deal as last year, and I JUST accepted their 6 month extension deal dammit. Frown

Thankfully I still have a day or two left on my existing account from last year, so maybe I can cancel the new deal, and get the BF deal instead. Is all that work worth saving $1/month? Probably not!

Is it better to buy the Hulu deal for $1/month and add Disney to it instead of going through the student option with Disney add on? I am assuming both options come with ads if you didn't have any ongoing subscription?

Gdpnow is a more modern measure of the economy as well and supports your point. The moment inflation started decelerating, we were in the all-clear. Wage/wealth gap is widened and increasing, but that hasn't slowed down consumption on discretionary goods even if big ticket purchases have been deferred.
