At that price, I'd rather hit up one of the local antique stores and grab a vintage wagner or griswold. Something that not only was polished from the factory, but is smoothed over from years of use on top of it (and has pour spouts).

This is not intended for the budget or vintage cast iron buyer; it's marketed to people interested in the newer boutique cast iron offerings from Stargazer, Finex, Smithey, Butter Pat Industries, Borough Furnace, etc.

For that market, this is a good deal. Vintage pans, though priced similarly, require a lot of knowledge and inspection to ensure there is no wobble, pitting, cracks, or other imperfections.

I have one of these -- got it as a gift full price a few years back. And have gotten rid of all my Lodges since then. This thing rocks. Also got the #8 eventually, which is my favorite.

Just bought two to give as gifts. Anybody who's a fan of cast iron cooking will love this. Thx OP!
