You can fly to Japan ($587) and then Taiwan ($228) for about the same price if you wanted to go to both countries.

I've done Taiwan for $500 round-trip on United from lax, this isn't a bad price but a fairly frequently seen price.

Do you have frequent flier miles? I've paid ~20-30K DL miles on China Air multiple times for Japan to Taiwan. In comparison to using your miles in the US, using miles in Asia is a better deal.

Taiwan is a fun country to visit. The people are super-friendly plus there is all of that good food to make you nice n fat.
