I ended up caving and spent the $12.98 month membership to place my order. I'm sure there'll be plenty in stock by the time noon PST rolls around but didn't want to chance it.

FYI, the code WOWFRESH saved me an additional $10
Gave your first rep for the helpful 10 bucks off. thanks

I tried getting one when it went live after the Walmart + was over and it said oos or actually "this item is in high demand. Please try again in a little bit" Tried again an hour later and it went through. 33 bucks for extended warranty. I pick up Friday

Is it worth it if we are using it less often. I am still planning to get a 75" TV as main TV eventually and use this in another room.
Yes, use something like this with basic HDR10 in a lesser room. Then if your 75" TV (hopefully also with Dolby Vision) breaks, you can use this to tide you over in your main room until the next Black Friday.

Anyone comment on the quality of this television? Specifically the brightness, the crispness, the colors, and the sound?

Ordered this $228 TCL and this Samsung: SAMSUNG 65" Class TU690T Crystal UHD 4K Smart Television - UN65TU690TFXZA https://www.walmart.com/ip/2940109765

I know it's a big price difference, but any option as to which you'd give to your in-laws who mostly watch sports (football, some basketball / baseball), old Westerns, and the occasional movie on TV (but only of it's an old movie they've seen a thousand times)?

I was hesitant to cheap out since they've treated us very well, but I don't need to spend almost double the cost unless it's going to be a noticable difference for the viewing case mentioned.

Any thoughts?

Personally I have both the Vizio V series 70" (slickdeal in 2020) and the TCL 4 series 48" (slickdeal last year)… the Vizio v series gets no love on slickdeals but for me the picture quality, chromcast where I can navigate YouTube on my iPhone to the tv, and chrome cast twitch with no ads to my tv… not to mention airplay movies from my iPhone it's way better. I actually don't like the TCL… over time it lags and the picture quality imo is overrated it's way too artificially colorful if that makes sense. Colors just seem off. I wound up getting the Vizio v series 75" today and am giving the 70" to my father

Good to see you in this room! You and me could be brothers, we hung out in some of these Black Friday "events". Like you, I have no more room for a 65 inch 4k hdtv! But the urge to buy is still their for me. I have about 7 hdtv's smaller sizes lined allong hallway, ... and I see this deal, and my thought "I want one". I have been battling that urge for a couple of days, walking through my home, wondering where to put this baby, and my "logical mind says NO PLACE TO PUT IT. I know that, "but I still want it". I did buy this tv, and took a couple of walks around the block, to have the "debate" in my head. Finally, I cancelled this tv about 30 minutes ago. I do feel better, I have to "grow up", I guess. I can buy anything, but buying stuff I don't need, ...needs to get updated. I don't need another tv, speaker, echo show, PC, chromebook. You and me are sort of going through the same "addiction", "passion", "withdraw". It was fun times in past buying stuff, but the fun is NOT FUN anymore. I congrated myself and patting myself on back for cancelling this great deal. It is a process, of letting go, ...

Always nice to see you post!
You would have felt even better if you had bought it and donated it as a gift for a kid that needed it this Christmas.

Walmart + is included with my Amex Platinum Card. I only buy throw away TVs . Since the last overpriced one I purchased crapped out in the 4th year. I bought 2 of these. Will gift one to some family member who needs it. Additionally had an Amex offer spend $60 get $10 back 2 times. So a little extra savings is always welcomed.

Walmart plus is a great deal. It's awesome to have your groceries delivered to you. And any little item you might need that's not a grocery they will deliver to you in under a day, even if the item is five dollars. Also you get $.10 off per gallon of gas. So in my situation it pays for itself, but YMMV
