If you haven't been keeping up, Sony just raised their PSN prices a crazy amount.

Reminder to PS5 owners, Sony removed ability to save game data to USB. Only backup available is through PSN. You can lose hundreds of hours of game play. Ask me how I know.

I remember when you could get PSN and Live for $30 year.

Do you need psn to be on the network? I have the PS5 but no PSN account and I am able to play the games I buy with little issue. So wondering what am I missing out on.

I got Game Pass Ultimate for less than $36/yr a couple of months back. Bought two years worth thanks to Eneba.

I upgraded to PS Plus Extra this past February and have mostly enjoyed the games and benefits since then. However in the last few months they've 1) raised the prices 2) removed a lot of good games, and 3) added very few games that I'm excited about. I've stocked up a couple of years on the cheap but at this point I'd be wary of renewing further.

Looks like I'm good through April of 2025, but looks like that's the end of the road for me. You may get the people who use it heavily to keep paying more, but you're going to lose the ones that renew it just to have it. I don't use any of its benefits other than I add the free games to my library each month and think that someday I'll play them. Unless there are some good sales on Essentials, I'm done. I'm sure they won't miss me...

Such bs u can't stack years at discounted prices anymore. All u can do is join or upgrade to an even higher plan. Zero opportunity to pay ahead like b4. So if no deals active when your plan runs out, u r screwed.

For 90% of us, there will b no deal cuz not due at black Friday. I was going to opt out til deal but they just took $ from wallet without permission & renewed me & I'm not on auto renew.

When they announced the price increase, I took a good look at how often I actually played online or took advantage of their free PS+ games. It wasn't often. I'm going to let my current subscription lapse.

Yeah I had for discounts & to play destiny 2 online but I'm doing that less & less & don't like to b forced to pay full price especially at that big of a jump. This is my last yr. They renewed without my permission but luckily at $60 vs $80. I will finish my last bit of destiny for the yr & b done with ps+. I think many ppl will go to PC if gaming online is their thing as u don't have to pay any service to do so other than internet

Only major thing you're missing out on is playing multiplayer games. So, if you like playing fighting games/shooting games you would need a subscription to play with other people. If you above the basic tier then you get access to free games Sony releases that you can keep as long as you are subscribed. As soon as you stop paying for the subscription you lose access to the games.

I know it's not ideal for everyone but generally I use the PS5 for single player games and if I want to go multiplayer I play on my computer (Steam, Epic, etc.) because that's free.

I too will let my PS+ expire this year. I just can't justify the $80 at the moment for no real benefit. I barely use my PS5 as-is.

Target is a $15 Target GC with $100 Playstation Card purchase. You can read about it here.

Costco sometimes has sells but I am no longer a member so I can't guarantee the price.

Typically the online store called CDkeys.com will post sales during the holidays. I never had issues with redeeming my codes however everything is done via. email and can cause a bit of panic if codes are filtered through spam and junk folders. Not saying they will have a sale , just says its possible.
