Would be a tremendous waste of money. Get a $500 laptop with 3050, or even a desktop with a 1650 or higher. Put rest of the money in a college fund.

Or you could take the time to educate them on money and saving. Give them an allowance, then let them buy what they want. I bought my DS long ago with money I saved. Had to save for the games too.

Minecraft, any laptop with a 3050 or 4050 graphics card, which both could have had been purchased for $480-$700 on sales lately will run that game. This is a full on gamer rig that will last for many years.

Man besides the bland chassis, this looks like a good deal. I wonder what the thermals on this guy are. This would be better than the Asus TUF deal for $999 cause it has all newer components, but not sure what TDP the 4070 is?

I have this laptop. It's a full-powered 4070 that boosts to 140W but realistically, you don't better performance past 105W.

3050 will be good enough for Minecraft... But you can get insane detail and draw distances with a legit rig.

When kids grow out of Minecraft and get into FPS then this laptop will be ready. My 9yo hasn't touched Minecraft this year and mainly playing CS2 and Fortnite with me. Never thought he would get tired of Minecraft

Yeah but don't forget this is a much higher resolution screen, and this has an i9 and ddr-5.

I would like to know what the battery capacity is.
