Alpha 3, no question. An incredible game with what I thought were pretty impressive production values (for the type of game and the time), including in some versions every character from every SF 1/2/Alpha game to that point, selectable 'fighting styles' reflecting many of the previous games' differences, full if extremely goofy stories for each character, an unforgettable meme-worthy announcer, great music, etc. etc. It's a far more complete package than any of the other games.

Some fighting game connoisseurs prefer Alpha 2's mechanics from a technical standpoint, and it has story elements that would become canon of other games, but if you just want one game...
Answering my own question since I just reviewed them - looks like Saturday Night Slam Masters is 1-4 players and A.K.A Knights of the Round is 1-3 players

Any of these more than 2 players? Doesnt seem to be an easy way to sort them. Given their age, I'm guessing 1-2 players only....but thought I'd ask

If I want just one street fighter, which would you recommend? All I remember is SF II Turbo.

Gotta agree. SF Alpha 3 and Capcom vs SNK 2 (I know it's not available on switch) are the two best "Street Fighter" games of all time IMO. They are pretty close to perfection when it comes to the SF formula.

bought sfa3 and even at $1 it's not worth it.... it's not like a port at all.. why make it play the game with a view of an arcade cabinet. I would rather pay more for all actual decent port of the game vs playing it through this "Stadium Games" bs no wonder even not on sale the most of the games are only $2. instantly deleted of my switch shortly after playing it for a bit

You can change the view -- they don't "make it" play with the cabinet view. The reason why it's not a port is in the name (and, yes, why it only costs $1-2). There are plenty of aspects of a port in there, though, like save states, rewind, changeable speeds, screen rendering options, etc.

I absolutely love CVS2. One of my all time favorite games.
