This has been rock solid for me for over a year now. Way better than orbi.
I paid the same price last black Friday for the 5300 (same model I believe).

Best router I ever owned. I am getting very good speed all around the house. No drop connections ever.

Only complaint is the app requires 2 bucks monthly for the additional features.
Going to buy this as a gift. Purchased from Costco basically when it came out to replace an ubiquiti amplifi hd system.

Don't think this has had to be restarted a single time, nothings ever randomly disconnected—about 25 items connected at all times. Practically full speed throughout the entire home.

Suggestion for those installing mesh systems without extra Ethernet ports throughout the house, go to fast . Com or another speed test site, after installing the base. Go as far as you can away in opposite directions while testing the speed to find the best places to put the mesh points. For me, I placed them in areas that had about 95% of the speed as being next to the main router. It reached significantly farther than I expected.

The 6ghz wireless back haul seems to be completely game changing.

I am planning to buy this 11/20 to hopefully resolve my issues with our Orbi RBR/RBS50 (AC3000).

Bought this at the same price maybe earlier this year? So far so good, no issues yet. Though I do wish they have a whitelist feature.

So not a better deal than it has been multiple times over the past year. I was hoping for sub $250 for this thing for Black Friday.

maybe just my experience, I bought this from Costco for around this same price and returned it because one of the ethernet port stopped working after few months. I loved this device but this failure is not acceptable. I bought it couple of times again and it failed due to same issue. Great thing about costco is their return policy. I then bought this same from TP Link store on ebay as refurb for $184 6 months ago and it is going very well no issues with those. Maybe tp link fixes this issue on refurb, just my $0.02.

Costco took return after 6 months. That's the most I had when I returned it.

So, I just updated this posting. Costco carries the AXE5300 set, not the AXE5400 set. I started digging into the difference, and this is what I found. Identical in many of the main features/functions, but a few small differences, including three 1Gbps ports vs one 2.5Gbps port + two 1Gbps, and some other advanced features.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TpLink/c...s_axe5300/

Still considering getting these on the 20th, but thought it was originally for the 5400.

What do you mean? The 5400 has a few more features than the 5300. That's what the link talks about. Sorry, I don't understand your confusion...

What I got from the link is they are the same except for the top design and the added returns are on the pro model.

Thanks. What dates did you make those Costco purchases roughly? Just wondering and hoping they adjusted the manufacturing to permanently fix the issue.

TP Link famously does not support their products well. Usually it's good hardware, but it's important to keep this in mind.

I've had good luck with my Orbi setup, it's worked flawlessly for me, but their prices are ridiculous. Netgear isn't the greatest as far as support, but they're a step up.

I haven't looked enough into Google's newest routers to comment there. They didn't have a dedicated back haul back when I got my Orbi.

Keep in mind this has autosensing port issues as well if you have a NAS. Check the support and there is a 2-3 year old ticket where they refuse to fix the issue with a simple fix of letting you pick the port as WAN or LAN. Absurd
