If a refurbished Lenovo laptop's less than 1 year old from the moment it was bought as New for the first time, would I also have the manufacturer warranty? I know it's the case for Dell, where if you buy a refurbished laptop you can use its original warranty as long as it's not expired and you can transfer it to under your name.

It's a bit tricky. If it's an authorized seller like best buy, you have to contact lenovo and reset the date of purchase by sending them a receipt. If it's a rando refurb, I think you're out of luck. You have to get allstate or whatever other insurance they have on ebay.
There is a open box category on best buy that is populated by store location. Even the local stores have no idea it's even there. They stick it in a locked cage on the floor. Those you can get the lenovo warranty, and you can extend it 4 years with accident damage. It's just like buying new.
I got the 7800s amd advantage edition one for 850 and tacked on a 4 year for 120. Pretty decent deal for a good laptop that you can slam into the floor and get it on-site replaced or repaired.
