In case there are any fellow Lefties looking at this:

I have been trying out the Remarkable 2 for a week or so, and also bought the Scribe last night to compare. So far, while the Remarkable 2 is more polished, feels higher-end, etc., the Scribe is winning by a large margin for me for one simple reason: it works for left-handed people in a way the RM2 does not. The RM2 does not rotate when you turn the screen upside down (the top and bottom bezels are not even so I get this), which means you hold it by the thin edge vs. the side bezel for right-handed users. I could get used to that, but the main problem I have is that the Close/X button is in the top left corner and I am constantly hitting it with my palm and closing out of documents. They both have generous return periods so will continue to try them both, but so far I love the Scribe, esp for the price after the trade-in.
I am really liking this Kindle Scribe for note taking. Got a "used" one in "acceptable" condition, but the one they sent was the refurbished version and looked brand new. Can't beat that for $170+ tax I paid. Also purchased a Remarkable 2 to compare. RM2 is much more sleek looking and has a nice leather case (I haven't found a Scribe case that is this slim) and has a tad bit better writing experience, but the backlit display on Scribe, how fast it responds, and futureproofing potential (Scribe came in 2022 vs RM2 from 2000 with Scribe having much better hardware) combined with Scribe having more functionality makes me want to keep Scribe and return/sell my RM2.
Scribe's bigger and heavier, and the Paperwhite is right around a size/weight sweet spot so it is still manageable one-handed especially reading in bed or in transit. The Scribe will be a lot harder or tiring to use one-handed or lifted off a table, a case with a rear hand strap can help with holding but the weight can still be limiting. The advantage to the Scribe is you can elect to use two-column ebook layout so it reads more like a paper book w/ facing pages without sacrificing font size, or you can increase font size more. And the Scribe will be better at PDFs and non-reflowing formats than the Paperwhite b/c of the larger screen. Neither one are all that great at PDF though, but the Scribe at least can do it in a pinch.

Agreed with your assessment! I got the RM2 to test as well and like the Scribe more. Interestingly, I found the writing experience on Scribe better than RM2, but only by a margin. Scribe blows away RM2 in reading, screen, and backlit experience.

RM2 has better software and integrations IMO. I found the UX overall to be much nicer than Scribe. Converting text on device, integrations with cloud storage, etc.

Overall the $400 differential wasn't worth it to me for a device from 2020 (RM2). And my hope is that Amazon brings the software to parity with RM2.

Yep agree - just saw that Amazon sent another update (new to this so pardon me if the feature isn't that new) on Scribe to perform bulk action (moving multiple pages, etc.). Amazon is intent on improving Scribe user experience and it is getting very close to RM2. Price difference is insane. My need is very simple - digital note taking so that I don't continue to build stacks of notebooks every year. Scribe does it for me, and for a much more appealing price than RM2.

I saw a kobo 10.2" last week and was impressed. If the Kindle Scribe uses the same screen, I think I'll like it. But I already have an 11" ipad so I don't know if this is redundant.

Edit: bought one with trade-in coming up to $180. thanks!

Got one, thanks for posting! The 20% with trade in is killer. It's accepting an ancient Amazon Echo device I had in a drawer for an additional 61$ off the 305$ price

What's the difference between Scribe vs. Paperwhite for purely reading purposes? Don't think I will be using Scribe to take notes.

When I click the free 3 months, I'm unable to also include the trade in offer. Bummer. I'll still probably jump on this deal though.

I am seeing 239.99 with basic pen but no Kindle unlimited before 20% trade in coupon. Don't think Kindle unlimited is worth the extra $25.

Thank you. I just got a Remarkable 2 this week and have been a bit annoyed that the left handed mode doesn't actually rotate the screen due to the uneven bezels on top and bottom. For $220 I'm going to give this a try to see if the Kindle's left handed mode is any better.

$211 for 16GB with premium pen for me thanks to the 20% trade-in discount. I accidentally bought a Kindle Voyage for that price this week, might be a good trade.

I have Boox Note Air 2 and like it.
Last I checked it was rated much better compared to Kindle Scribe, where reviews said scribe software (e.g. handwriting recognition etc.) was not as good as Boox (which has been in the market much longer). Anyone has firsthand experience using scribe versus boox and wants to share their experiences? Thanks in advance.

Looking for someone to compare note Taking on this or another e paper device to a higher end tablet that actually has good pen recognition like the s9 tab ultra or MacBook pro.
