There's a way around the auto-dimming but you have to apply the changes every time as it can't be turned off permanently. There's a YouTube video on how to temporarily disable auto-dimming.

I loved this monitor but had to return it. I updated to the latest firmware but I kept having issues with DisplayPort. It would randomly black screen and I would have to do a power cycle on the monitor to fix it. I didn't even try using the HDMI because that's not why I bought the monitor.

I ended up trading it in for a C2 48 inch because they had no more of these. I've been happy with that since, zero issues, still kind of ticked losing the display port option though.

Edit: just wanted to add, this is a great price. I think I paid 899 when I purchased mine. I would just say use this right away, don't leave it sitting around for a holiday present and make sure you're within the return timeframe in case you have any issues like I did.
