For only $11 though…. I'd rather get the K cpu knowing I could pull the GPU out and still have a bootable system (for whatever reason, testing, diag, letting a friend borrow the GPU, etc.)

I agree. $11 is not a big difference for majority of people so it's better to have it and rarely use rather than "I wish I paid $11 for troubleshooting".

Apparently, user benchmark website is a fanboy website that always shows AMD in unfavorable comparisons so I would be cautious about using them as a source of information.

That said, the gap may not be as big, but the 12700k is still faster than the 5700x. The 5700x from my understanding tends to compete with the i5 series, and it's kind of EOL CPU with new generation and socket out from AMD. Might be good performance vs bucks, but I'm not on top of these constant CPU model releases.

I bought a used 12600K for this exact price off eBay in January. Not sure what the significance is, but I am only going to buy processors for $211 in the future. Not this one though. Will wait for the 13700K to drop down in price.

I bought this when it released and just NOW finally built. I am tempted to get a 14700k, but we had issues getting the cpu cooler seated well and it almost broke too so I hate to undo it yet again to switch out cpus and maybe have it break when trying to tighten it back on. lol.

For the unfortunate ones like me, when my dedicated gpu died, intel's onboard graphics got me through a few months while I waited for a sale on a new gpu I wanted. I have always bought the K version for that reason so the incident only reinforced that my reasoning was sound and makes sense. Think of it as having insurance by paying a little bit more.

I would like to take advantage of the price. It would mean though I would have to upgrade my MB from 1151 to 1700 board. Newer memory also. My Graphics is a 3070 I am good with.
Too close to Christmas for what I would have to pay for an upgrade.

Oh wow I'm on a 2nd gen and was looking at the 14700k but this is $170 cheaper.. hm. Since I need a new mobo/RAM anyways it may be worth saving the money.
