This is pretty much as fast as the 14th Gen.

Only difference between 13th and 14th gen is 14th gen has 4 additional efficiency cores. But speed wise is minimal difference.

Saw that price and high tailed it to the store to secure the bag. It was cheaper than the 13600k (by 8 cents, but still) so I figured something odd was going on. Hope it comes back one day for everyone!

I don't know why anyone would buy this when with MB & RAM you would be paying way more than any cpu/mobo/ram deal.

There have been tons of i7-12700k/mobo/32gb RAM deals for the same price as just the cpu only for this "deal".

Plus the 14th gen sucks power for no good reason, and gets hotter. The 13th is a no-brainer compared to 14th.

Unlike the delta between 13th and 14th gen, 12 to 13th gen had a substantial performance gain. The 13700k is essentially what the 12900k was, so if you are talking 12900k combo deals then yes, although the 12th gen i9 also needs a bit better of a cooling setup than the 13th gen i7 as well

uh, yeah and for a marginal cpu performance loss you get a free mobo & ram, you'd have to be insane to take that swap. In games that performance gap is essentially 0.

Define substantial, agreed it's a better generational difference than 14700, but it also gets much hotter & uses much more power than the 12700, so also needs much better & more expensive cooling to get the most of that improvement...

Again my main issue is with buying a cpu only deal like this, especially at this price. If you're going with a 13700k bundles are a much better value. You won't be able to get mobo & 32gb RAM for $100 anywhere.

Just leaving this here. No way I'd buy this or 14th gen over a $200 12700k

If you live near a micro center go there and buy their Black Friday combo. It's a i7 14700k and z790 msi WiFi board, and 32gb of ram for $500
