Plenty of good deals for mobo/cpu/ram combo going on. But.....you have to get the crappy mobo that they want to include.

At microcenter you can usually substitute for another board but might have to pay more. Or just get the value of the mobo deducted.

I heard GB boards have more issues. Would you prefer this or Z690 Force?

z690 force all day if you don't need the few extra features of a z790, like higher supported memory maximum sppeds for DDR5 (of course, might not be able to hit those on a GB anyway)

These m.2 pcie 5.0 slots are a bit of a mystery on z790 boards. If you use one, your regular pcie 5.0 slot for your video card goes to 8x mode vs 16x. Who wants to do that?

That's not true. They won't let you change the combo to anything you want other than to accept the combo as it is.

Now a trick that you can do, which I did twice: you can buy the combo PLUS whatever memory or mobo you want and then later during next week you can return the unused mobo and memory you didn't use for refund, if it's from the combo they will refund you partially and will tell you not to do it again and you apologize. Simple.

I did it with 13700k back in march and ended up buying this exactly motherboard, which is a great motherboard and the latest bios update working like a charm on 5600hz memory XMP.

Not entirely true. I always owned asus and gigabyte. Both motherboard are great. No issues with me. I own this motherboard on the tittle since march.
