In case you are looking at this as a solution for streaming games from your desktop to another room, please be aware that GeForce Experience and Nvidia no longer support GameStream.

Sunshine and Moonlight are the server-client pair of apps you will want to use to do any LAN game streaming. They are relatively easy to set up, but it's something you should know about before purchasing if you intend to use this as a game streaming device.

As for performance, I have not had any issues at all with this model of Shield. I used it to replace the smart features on a 2016 Samsung TV that was getting progressively more annoying and losing support for applications like Twitch.
Isn't this like 6 years old?
I was a diehard Shield user. I switched to the Apple 4k. Did obsessive side by sides. In my experience, the apple has better color and picture quailty. Nothing is perfect as the sound quailty on the shield is better than apples 4k. I only stream no gaming.

It's 4 years old, but still one of the best streaming devices on the market. I'm still using a 2017 model and it's great

I have the nvidia shield tv 2017 version. The last one that was with the gaming controller. Don't use it often, but it worked great with emulators, roms especially n64 games. Not lag at all. Did notice after not being used awhile the rubber buttons on remotes get sticky.

My 5 years old LG OLED Tv have integrated netflix and disney+ app and the user experience so far so good. I using jailbreak Oppo 205 for BDMV and ISO playback from NAS. Is this worth to invest shield pro to play h265 mkv mp4 and some china streaming apps? I also having google chromecast 4k for travelling purpose only.
Can't answer you since I am in the same boat. I have the shield but often just use the LG apps.
What China streaming apps are you thinking of?

Is this the black Friday price or does it get better than this? I currently use a Google TV and have never been too thrilled with the performance. Very interested in the shield for streaming

I also have the LG OLED, C1. I mainly use the TV OS but I also have my Apple TV 4K hooked up. I can scrub faster using the TV apps but the quality is better on the Apple TV 4K

Since bf is around the corner, instead of gambling if the price will go down or not (which I doubt based on history) it's worth buying it now and if the price does go down, return it and buy with the lower price.

This refrain feels like it's sounding all too common and may cost NVIDIA for their greed.

I love my Shield Pro as much as the next guy, but it's really getting ridiculous to go on the same "sale" for the last 4 years when it's really starting to show its age on the software reliability side of things. As it stands, if the Apple TV 4Ks were capable of lossless Atmos codecs, I'd probably use it exclusively. Alas, I use that for the bedroom without a serious audio setup instead, but it's such a more polished experience and cheaper to boot (while being much more powerful than the Shield under the hood). Really hope they come out with a Shield Pro successor with current hardware (native AV1 support perhaps), current Android version, and competitive price.

I want to love my 2019 Shield Pro, but I experience nothing but stutters and audio sync issues no matter what I do. Factory reset, repasting, changing refresh rate. Nothing works. At this point the only thing I use it for is local media playback in Kodi (Plex cannot sync audio).

At this point, it's a 4 year old streaming box based on an 8 year old chip running 3 versions of Android behind.
