I've heard these just drive parents crazy, more so than actually advise them on anything SIDS related. Does anyone own this and can they advise? I think heart / breath monitoring is really important I'm just not sure I'd respond well to false alarms

Our pediatrician discouraged the use of such monitoring devices. It gives a false sense of safety and is very error prone.

False sense of safety, if the parents are idiots and leave the kid alone?

These are just things to give you an extra alert.
And yes most the time, it goes off it's false but I personally will still rather have it then not.

I have the owlet, and even tho it works. I ended up just using an older angelcare with the motion plate.

I don't have this exact product, but the Owlet. I would much rather have a false alarm and the sense of security this provides versus the latter. This was really great to help learn your babies resting heart rate, helped me and my wife know when our child was coming down with something (increased heart rate, lower blood ox readings, more restless sleep, etc). I guess it depends on your personality type but I can't imagine this doing more harm than it will do good

Note that Eufy was caught early this year producing unencrypted videos for their advertised to be end-to-end encrypted cameras. It was a pretty big PR disaster for their brand and reputation.

I own it and bought it for that exact reason (SIDS concern) and works well IMO for that task.
during our child's first 2 weeks, I would get faster than normal heart rate alerts >180bpm (doctor said that was normal) and couldn't figure out how to increase the threshold.
since then, the heartrate has been within normal range.
the O2 level reading is billed as a beta feature so I don't rely on that at all.
coupled with the eufy baby cam, I get crying alerts which are 100% spot on.

only negative is the sock takes forever to dry after handwashing.

Hundred percent agree . Such a stupid argument I see many times when it comes to these types or products . Almost like there are trolls advocating for SIDS

Something to be aware of: a few years back Owlet got smacked down by the FDA [fda.gov] for selling their baby monitoring sock without FDA clearance. As a result, they had to severely limit the capabilities of their socks until just recently [owletcare.com], when the FDA gave them De Novo clearance for heart rate and oxygen saturation levels. This is relevant for the eufy sock because the FDA is notoriously slow moving, and just because this sock has been on the market for a year or so now doesn't mean that they won't get a similar hit from the FDA--it took them years to go after Owlet.
We used an Owlet gen 2 sock for our newborn and thought it was worthwhile from a peace-of-mind standpoint, I'd expect this sock would perform similarly (and honestly eufy is probably better at app design and reliability than Owlet imho), but a couple of things for buyers to keep in mind:
1- The pulse rate and blood oxygen functions have not received clearance and thus shouldn't be relied upon as accurate
2- If the FDA forces a stop sale, it will also impact warranty exchanges (something I can painfully attest to from our Owlet experience)

I'm another parent with 1 year old that is a big fan of this sock specifically and similar options like Owlet. We've gotten a lot of useful data and insights and once we adjusted settings it has no caused any extra stress. It does offer peace of mind but definitely does not replace all the other safe sleep advice and other things a good parent needs to look after for their child.

I know they're at different price points but this or the nanit pro which comes with a breathing band? Does the breathing band serve the same purpose as the sock?

Thanks OP, bought one to try it out. Might return it if connectivity is as bad as some reviews indicate, or if Owlet is on sale for Black Friday

How is the sock + camera pricewise, it's 200 on amazon. is that good?

Any benefit to pairing the two or getting a different monitor?

single pane of glass when using the app, instead using two apps.
When viewing the camera live view, it overlays the heart rate.
